I posted a hyperlink to [ play.com/Gam…tml ] in the following thread comment:

[ hotukdeals.com/mis…942 ]

Note that when the address is automatically converted to a clickable hyperlink the resultant address is:

[ hotukdeals.com/vis…tml ]

This redirects to:

[ http://+http%3a%2f%2fwww.play.com%2fgames%2fplaystation3%2f4-%2f6072960%2fdc-universe-online%2fproduct.html/?P36=SVCMTU&affid=hotukdeals&awc=buyat&_$ja=tsid:11516|prd:hotukdeals ]

Thanks FP, already checking out a similar issue with another merchant so I'll let you know once sorted

Got it, there's a space in the beginning of the hyperlink so it's adding an extra http at link conversion. Removing the space from the link you created fixes the problem.

I need to just check if it's a sitewide problem

Do you mean a space after the opening square brace & before the "http://" prefix?

Like this?

[ hotukdeals.com ]

Just created a link there with our hyperlink builder and it's worked out fine. play.com/Gam…tml

edit also working fine

No I mean a space before the entire link. Look at the links in your first post and hover your Play link and you'll see what I mean

[ http//ww…l ]

Reedit it's because you're adding brackets to define the URL, which aren't needed. See link above with brackets compared to without

So, this is OK:
play.com/Gam…tml
so is this:
[ play.com ] <- [EDIT]: Actually, this is not OK! [/EDIT]

but this is not:

[ play.com/Gam…tml ]

That does not happen with:

[ hotukdeals.com ] or [ hotukdeals.com ] though.

(all these links are typed as you see them, but the automatic parsing is inserted the space that is then converted to a "+" (plus) character)

PS. I typically use [ (address) ] to quote external hyperlinks. This is the first time (I have noticed) the space character being inserted into the resultant address.

I had mentioned that the space character between the opening square brace & the first character of the "http://" prefix was being underlined in a previous "bug" thread.

DevelopmentTeam reported this was fixed.

Yep, speaking with them about it now. It's only affecting a handful of merchants rather than being sitewide so we'll get it sorted; thanks for highlighting

You're welcome.

Presumably the "affiliate identification" code(s) are added to a typed (text) address when it is being converted to a clickable link & some merchants are handled differently because of the way that their affiliate programme expects the hyperlinks to be formed.

If you would like me to help with testing with further comments/links, please just ask.

Resolved, thanks again fanpages.
