I agree that it should be optional. Or perhaps only be required after a certain time has lapsed like 10 minutes as usually I find myself editing only spelling mistakes which don't need a reason.

it'll be quite funny watching the development team trying to get that working but in all seriousness I agree it should be optional except in the fs/ft section were the actual reason for the edit should also be included.

Yes, it's no longer mandatory to give a reason if you edit within "x"(someone can confirm) minutes.

I think it's more like seconds!
