Hi can you please post the thread within a reply post, as it seems to take me back to this thread.

Thanks

MissGem

the person is trying to be helpful so can't see a problem with that

Sorry MissGem, not sure what happened there here you go........hotukdeals.com/for…369

im only using it as an example and I know people are just trying to be helpful but if everyone posted a deal they find in the shop threads would get bumped and others would disappear.
It's not what the FS/FT thread is for thats all, people post in there because they want to buy the item from a member on here, you have to assume they have already looked at shops.

Whilst we do appreciate that the member in question was being helpful, we do ask that members not interested in trading with the OP refrain from posting in the trade forum as their posts act as thread bumps and demote other members listings.

No Thread Spoiling.

Do not comment within any trade thread unless you are actually interested … Do not comment within any trade thread unless you are actually interested in the item listed or you post a valid URL to the same item new and cheaper elsewhere. Links to auction / marketplace sites are not allowed. Lowball offers are classed as thread spoiling. If you are offering an item, regardless of whether in a “for sale” or “wanted” thread, you MUST state a valid asking price..

If you do see any posts that are acting as thread bumps / thread spoiling then please report via the link on the specific thread and we can review further.

There are still loads of the "interested, waiting on pics " thread spoiling posts

A quick question to the above rule, does that mean that when a seller is breaking the FS/FT rules we shouldn't post on the thread telling them this we should just report it?

Yes Emzy we should. I see those "am interested pending pics" posts and roll my eyes, but will start to report them. Its just so surprising to see members with high feedback doing it. Its mega cringey too as its like Oh I posted first, so I get first refusal.

You won't get a straight yes/no answer I'm afraid. If you see someone selling prohibited items, then please feel free to let the member/others know (whilst reporting). All we ask is that you don't go into a discussion on the trade thread. A comment and report is more than enough. Don't fret that you might be bumping the thread, we may deduct that from the OP if the thread remains open. e.g. no asking price, but a member points this out. We don't want to be too firm to new members, however there's no excuse for ignoring the rules.

Thread spoiling. I tend to delete these and/or remind the member. Repeated 'spoiling' may lead to trade restrictions. Of course we do try and 'educate' as such, therefore it's only repeat offenders who are likely to hear from us in more detail. So, if you see 'interested' - 1 sec after a clothes listing, and whilst it obvious pics are following, do report. We'll action.

Ok will do, and thank you for letting us know

tbh there is alot of pathetic behaviour in there.
in an attempt to use manners people go too far even and it means they use less manners in the end.

people dont want to make an offer just because someone has posted previously.
is someone saying 'interested - im not making any offer but wait on me on the off-chance and dont let anyone else buy it'more important than someone willing to actually do a deal? i dont think so.

people using when they posted to squeeze another member out when they want to actually do a trade rather than just post they are interested.

people lowballing then expecting to count the lowball as interest and only increase it if someone else wants the item. if someone else wants to pay asking price the lowballer and even the seller seem to think thats ok to now take the trade away from the person who actually wanted to do the trade the seller asks for.

on topic : i assume the original post in question has been edited? wouldn't a shop link be way to stop potential profiteering? surely helping the member get what they want (even if they dont know it) is more important than someone offloading their tat knowing full well they can get something siliar for cheaper.

In response to the part Ive highlighted in bold then yes a mod had edited the example and removed the post. In response to the rest then Sigma has explained that above.

ok thanks i didn't see the original linked pos.
sigma didn't really cover any of the other stuff as the examples shown of bumps were all very short term so wouldn't really have made an impact on the position of the thread. obviously bumps where a long time has passed are different.
also no mention of the 'manners' though its not really something a mod can deal with anyway i guess...members seem to feel obligated to act a certain way rather than a fair way

As per the above info I have been reporting threads, 3 (I think) today but none have been changed/had comments removed. Any reason for this?
