You are free to report whatever you wish, we will take a look at it. If we feel in contravenes the forum code of conduct, it will be removed. Thanks.

In a recent survey, 7 out of 10 DVD users said both formats are a waste of money. Therefore they're BOTH dead in the water.

But yeah John, I agree, too much of this BS ruining potentially good deals for those that actually can benefit from them. That Amazon thread is a complete joke.

From the forum code of conduct.....

This is called trolling; in public forums and won't be tolerated here.* Users or groups of users who continue to attack other members because of their views and opinions, attempting to beat them down or demean them, will have posts deleted and may be banned."

This would apply to most of the Blu-Ray 'Fanboy' stuff I've seen.

I own neither but have often 'poked my head round the door' of these threads while trying to gauge if it's even approaching the time to look at upgrading.

(Might take a while replacing over a thousand odd discs??!?!)

The first post in the title is 'exempt' from any automatic formatting as the way the system is setup only the posts after are proper forum posts. You'll also notice people can post ebay links in their first post, as well as restrictions such as not being able to post clickable links, pictures etc.

I think on HD-DVD's then the comments aren't needed - but on HD-DVD … I think on HD-DVD's then the comments aren't needed - but on HD-DVD players a comment linking and quoting to a news article showing the format is dead is acceptable. Just think if someone bought it and didn't know!

Have you actually looked at the player threads? they are a complete and utter mess. Out of 50 posts, about 5 are typically about the player, 10 posts will be a link to a news story about the demise of hddvd, 10 will be "haha you choose the wrong one - use as a door stop" and the rest are petty squabbles.....

I realise mods time is limited but it is the same members time and time again. What about issuing them with some warnings?

Agreed. SSDD innit:roll:

Earlier on JB posted to tell people to keep on topic, she was ignored. I don't find that acceptable, it shows no respect towards her as a mod:x

Well the current EP30 thread is a total mess, 15 pages and I think about 5 posts are about the player - is it possible a mod can clean out this thread and simply update the first post to mention Toshiba dropping out? Or does pretty much every post need reported?

This is Admin's response to the issue of blatent and repeated trolling - which is fair comment - a single posting of the news story would be sufficient - however each thread does not need a post from everyone and their friend about it that then descends into chaos!
Plus, I think you'd have to be living under a rock not to know about the current state of affairs regarding HD-DVD!

(sorry - didn't know this thread already existed!)

Yeah, I agree - I don't think admin has read the threads in question as the person who posted the deal even said in their deal post that HD DVD was dead. It is a valid point but mods can put a single comment in the deal post and remove the 14+ pages of unnecessary comments.

Buying milk that has gone off. (ie totally useless - and therefore can hardly be described as hot deal no matter what the price).or 2. More like buying a really old graphics card at a cheap price. (Kinda useful in that it will upscale your existing DVDs and any titles you have in HD DVD).Any thoughts would be welcome

Option 1 is correct.

Maybe you could cast your eye on this one and do the same? Back JB up a bit:thumbsup:

To be honest I think that deal should be locked and reposted with a clear warning about posting in the new thread.

John

Agreed, HD-DVD may be effectivley dead in the long term there are some great deals around at the moment on players and films. Players can have a life as an upscaler for many years, and why do we have to listen to this fanboi rubbish?

and so it continues - every hddvd thread is deliberately spoiled.........

Original Poster

I know, I've given up on HD DVD threads sadly - just keeping an eye out on the title of the thread. The deal poster even put in the deal description that it was a dead format yet still people have to continue trolling the thread.
