Thinks its 90 at the moment isn't it? Pretty sure its more than 50 anyway, the first 100 hot deals are all in 3 figures at the moment...

I think it is as well.

I'm sure admin has said it varies slightly according to the number of deals being posted and other stuff I can't remember but was probably nerdy and boring

Nice round hundred makes sense to me. If that becomes too low, reduce the maximum vote to +- 8 or 7 etc (although when you think about it, 11 high-value-member hot votes to become hot sounds quite a lot...)

hmm i guess, and then of course a few ppl would vote cold aswell so prob on average takes bout 12 or 13 full power members to get to 100.

it depends really how many ppl vote on a deal on average, if on average 40 ppl vote then its not really alot to get to 100 do ya think?

Doesn't really work that way though - most people only look at 'hot' deals, so its only those who look at new deals and vote who can push a deal onto the front page. Its certainly not a perfect system but it works pretty well, as you say there are more members than ever so the boundary keeps getting pushed up and the vote-per-member nudged down - I quite like the fact that its near 100 degrees though (even though I don't think lots of the deals are really hot!).

FWIW the way I would change it is allow each person a certain number of voting 'credits' - rather than force a hot deal to be +9 I'd let them choose (to some extent) the heat they gave, as some more obscure deals (things that would appeal to me, like great value bike parts etc) will not be voted hot by the masses unlike, for example, decent grocery deals. If anything that is the fundamental floor in the voting system - popular items which are decent but not-spectular deals will naturally be voted hotter than obscurer items that may actually be very good deals (but don't appeal to the mass market)....

Admin was a bit vague the last time he 'spoke' on this. Click throughs counted though

I reckon it's 100 on average; some get colder as soon as they hit the front hot page.

That's the best way for a good brew.
