"How to post images" is another common question that could benefit from being more visible to (new) members.

BFN,

fp.

It's been asked for no end of times in the past and the most common response to this was that the custom forum software doesn't allow it.

Please don't let the developer(s) let loose anymore on the code to try and give us this function as god only knows what will happen.

^^^^^^^
This and a load of other useful guides used to be in the help section but seem to have disappeared, why that's happened ia a mystery as that would be the sensible place to put them.

I think these are the older versions of some of those guides

HUKD help: How To Compose and Submit Deals on the forums!!

How To Post and Host Images for Thread Submissions, Comments and Replies.

Short Answer yes for FS/FT.

Whilst we're on the subject-ish, the "HUKD Forum Code of Conduct" could do with overhauling.

It still mentions "Reputation", for instance.

I expect some members do not even know the thread exists!

There's a "Help" section on the right hand side of the page.
They should be there. If I remember correctly, the help section used to link to exactly those types of thread before the big change.

Yes there is. It is the same "Help" section that is at the bottom of this page beneath the "HUKD Tools and API" heading.

The "code of conduct" I mentioned is linked from the "Inappropriate Content" section, but unless you wish to search through 519 comments in the "FS/FT Rules and Guidelines" (beneath the "For Sale, Trade and Wanted Forum Guidelines" section) the information is best found by using Google (when you know what to search for).

You do remember correctly and there was a newcomers guide to HUKD with loads of useful links in it.
However this has gone and the current "How do I Post a Deal?" is far from as good as Emma's original

Add to that we have been told to use an image hosting site like Photobucket etc to host images rather than use direct links to images as the less than useful new guide says we should.

how about a sticky search function at the top of the page........!!!!

pretty much all questions have been asked and answered.....its a pretty easy forum to use and pretty standard across the internet for posting images etc

^^ Am I missing something here, are you saying we don't need sticky's because you can use the search function? Try putting 'why can't I pm' in the search and see what comes back.

As for most of the other points in general above, yes there are guides on here to do pretty much anything and everything but I see posts from members that have been on here for years saying 'where are the FS/FT rules', 'how do I leave feedback' or 'how do I post a photo' so it's not just new users but this must prove that none of the FAQ's answers are readily available. You shouldn't have to trawl through a site looking for answers to the most frequently asked questions they should be somewhere staring you in the face. This would cut down massively the amount of regurgitated FAQ's on here IMO.

One simple flaw in the design of this site and FS/FT.

The banner saying rules equates to Fo.lk according to the banner, I would replace it myself with a FS/FT Fo.lk Banner with sub links :: Rules :: How to List :: Ask a Moderator ::

As that is clearly a sticky. (Which they don't do)

Would create more work intially but would stop users having to do the leg work on reporting issues that may not have come up if the links were accurate to the content in the topic.

Instead of stickies the easiest thing to do would be for the forum admin/mods to create another forum titled FAQ's, make individual posts of all the most commonly asked questions with the answers included, and then make it read only.

It's not perfect and loads of people won't notice it (as I'm sure loads don't even realise there is anything other than the deals bit of the site) and still make mistakes/ask common questions, but at least there is a visible link on the site to a FAQ and you can just direct people to the link whenever needed. The site really could do with something to help guide people as it's a bit of a mis-mash at times.

The banner idea in fs/ft is a good one.

Generally I don't think we need stickies. They get in the way of the page content.
