Depending on how you have your web browser cache options configured you may be able to go backwards in the browser's history to review the previous version of the same page with your previous comment still intact.

You can then click the [Edit this comment] link & copy the original text to your (Windows?) clipboard. Save the edit & refresh the page. In some instances I have seen the comment reinstated back into the thread, but in others I have had to post the contents of the clipboard into a new comment.

Either way, I agree with you.

We have some discussion on this in the main "HUKD Bugs / Glitches" around the end of August (2010) & the notion of a confirmation prompt was initially met with some resistance from other members. I then suggested that...

You raised the same objection in the discussions I mentioned previously, then agreed that a confirmation prompt would be the best option if it was configurable on a member-by-member basis.
