this is a thread in which it is currently going on!

personally i would sell to the person who offered the asking price first as thats the fairedst way to procede

the seller should accept the first offer meeting their asking price, as long as they are happy with the offer. I.e. If the person is new, they could ask for further information before accepting the deal

I always hold the right to deal with anyone I dont want too.

Sold to cheekychic imo

yeah BUT is it not the choice of the seller...true enough this would be fair but what if the two had bad past or do not get on and op doesnt want to sell to said FIrst poster or First poster has poor feedback and op doesnt feel safe selling

ultimately its down to the seller, if they have reasons not to sell to the first person its up to them at the end of the day

LMFAO again :w00t:

IMO the seller should reply with a yes or no to each offer as they submitted, this will avoid confusion as to who is accepted as the buyer and should be clearly stated in the thread. However at the end of the day it is up to the seller how they handle the sale, including any offers that meet the asking price.

As the seller is new and has no feedback, along with the willingness to send first then this should be reflected in the flexibility of handling the sale.

How many times have you seen users on here pounding and hammering a new user selling stuff claiming they are scammers and alike? yet this guy is more than willing to put his trust out there by sending first. I think the seller should have complete control over the final decision of any sale of his or her item as it belongs to them.

If the seller handles the sale very well and clearly then people will be more inclined to deal with them again, on the other hand if the seller handles the sale badly, including the offer process then people will be less inclined to deal with them in the future.

I dont think this is an issue of whether the offer/acceptance should be governed or not. This is a matter entirely between a seller and any potential buyer.

AGREED!

Sloth/Mod

It's never been a hard and fast rule.......more of an unwritten rule that has always existed on For Sale and a case of being fair.

Naturally if the seller has a problem with the buyer then they shouldn't sell to them but it's generally always been the decent thing to sell to the person that offers the asking price first else you end up running the risk of starting a bidding war. Also it runs the risk of turning For Sale into a clique like Misc if you start accepting any of a number of asking price offers.

Also with the thread in question, although the seller offered to post first, cheekchic who made the first offer of asking price also is willing to pay up front straight away.

Their is also the other part of this which i forgot to add is when people make an offer BELOW asking price, then when an offer of asking price or even just HIGHER than their offer is put in, another argument begins with "I offered first so it should go to me", even though the offer was below asking AND below the second offer posted

In those cases then they don't have a leg to stand on as they were out 'offered' so to speak.

I've never seen anyone turn down a higher offer and go for the lower one except where they have accepted before the other offer. In which case they sell to the agreed deal and not go with the higher one.

the thread this thread refers to is a prime example of greed, all out for themselves yet the op isnt allowed to be out for himself

sassie and Syzable: please go to thread in question and read comments please.

Mike..

lol I read the whole thread earlier and the only thing I can see is that the seller handled it badly. Taking it on what people KNOW from whats been posted on the thread then the OP clearly stated it was sold to Mike. HOW that sale came about is another matter so lets not get confused about the 2 different things.

On the sale by thread then yes it was disappointing, unclear and badly handled by the seller, so lesson to be learned there is to be cautious about putting in an offer with that type of seller in future as you could be wasting your time.

If any off-handed selling was going on by PM then the Mods should look into it. However as far as a sale by thread goes then its got nothing to do with the Mods providing the seller abides by the forum selling guidelines. It has got nothing to do with a mod who the seller sells the item to, full stop.

The item doesnt belong to the Mods therefore they have no say in the matter at all. Whenever the cleeky members on here stop brown nosing the mods when they will go running to them for every single issue of clarity then it shows a distinct lack of common sense in that individual.

If you put in an offer for an item and the seller doesnt accept it or doesnt get back to you then take that as a lesson learned on dealing with that seller, deal with it and move on.

PS: If you want to build a community on here that is trustworthy and reliable then start by welcoming new users rather than trying to alienate them. If they post something then offer positive and constructive advice rather than slamming them and reporting them at every turn. Help to build the community, not destroy it.

When a buyer states they will send 1st and then doesnt post and starts dealing by pm, there is always a concern, hence why i asked a mod to look at it, if its me you referring to as brown nosing, or whatever you wanna call it, then thats fine, if by me posting that it stops one person getting scammed, your name callin is worth it ;-)

I think someone should send the OP of that thread a message advising it does not get relisted again, the thread has been closed and if he relists it that will be a ban, I don't want to send any PM's at the moment as it may be misconstrued.
The is obviously (well, more than likely) unaware of the relisting in 7 days rule and think it might be rather harsh if he gets hit with that straight away.

lol sounds a little paranoid there.

What I said was based on a broad overview of what I read in this thread and the other thread. If there is evidence to suggest that a sale was posted and been done off-handed then I agree, it should be reported as long as there is clear evidence to suggest it.

According to the post being referred to the seller was willing to post first, so I dont see how the buyer could get scammed if the seller posted first.

If you want to confuse name calling with an adjective then thats your choice of words, not mines. I dont recall any name calling and if i was referring to anyone in particular I would stated so.

PS: To any user especially a new user, feedback only shows how your previous buying/selling has been evaluated, it certainly doesnt stop someone from being scammed. To be quite honest, I dont care how long a member has been registered on here, how many posts they have, what their feedback is, or even if they want to believe they are a mod wannabe. I will do business with them based on good personal judgement, otherwise how would people trade at all.

The last one that offered to post 1st,
hotukdeals.com/ite…ll/
and i really cant be bothered to find and post the rest, as is obvious to most, they offer to post 1st which appeals to the long time members, then pm to the newer members who see long time members happily dealing and post them the money, yes they should be more careful, but doesnt mean they deserve to get ripped off

Sloth/Mod

The one thing that is confusing me is he is selling this one and buying one from Ryouga at the same time. Most probably because he can't fix his but it does make me wonder whether his one has been botched on a repair.

It happens everywhere on the internet and you only learn from experience.

To any user especially a new user, feedback only shows how your previous buying/selling has been evaluated, it certainly doesnt stop someone from being scammed. Simple common sense should kick in when parting with your hard earned cash. If you have any doubts at all then dont part with it. Its not a difficult.
