Not sure that's true.

no one laughed at her getting raped but you twist things to believe what you wish!

+1

I certainly crinkled my nose and raised my top lip in disgust when I read the comment, as I was a participant in the thread.

I think that JB has cleaned the thread up pretty well and, as a mod, she is the one to decide whether there should be a suspension and to confer with other mods to ensure consistency.

As is clear in Gari's thread in 'feedback' it is up to us in the misc community to stop the trolling and make it clear that it is unacceptable to the majority. That's not to say that I am always on topic, or never unambiguous, never in the slightest bit in error, always perfect etc - I'm certainly not, but I think that most of us agree where the line should be.

In that thread JB says this:
Perhaps the answer is if you don't want to read a thread, don't click it, don't reply to it. If you think something's been posted to cause trouble, report it. If you think something has been incorrectly spammed, report it. If you don't like / get on with anyone, ignore them and if you have a problem with a decision that a moderator takes then report it to Admin
We do take trolling seriously, we also take targeting of individual members/bullying seriously and sometimes there is a very fine line between the two.
We cannot do everything right unfortunately, not everyone will always agree with how we deal with certain situations so keep giving us feedback and we'll try and improve

So suspended or not, I don't know but perhaps we should each and every time report what we think is trolling.
I used to always make a comment, asking a member to remove the post that was offensive to me, but that led to some very very nasty exchanges and I don't think it's a good idea any more.

I deleted the comments
I did not infract because although the post was not in particularly good taste in the context of the thread I don't think posting a comment "I LOL'd" is particularly infraction worthy.
I also posted the following comments in that thread:

There has been some debate lately regarding threads in misc / trolling. … There has been some debate lately regarding threads in misc / trolling. One such thread is HEREIf you read that thread you will see that those who are perceived as being trolls are ruining this website for a great deal of members.I have, for now, removed the trolling posts from this thread; however any further attempts at deliberatley disrupting this thread will result in infractions and /or suspensions.A reminder of the rules regarding trolling should anyone be unfamiliar with them: -Trolling, Trolls: * Trolls are people who for no reason want to disrupt a forum topic by constantly posting out of context posts, derogatory comments, throwing insults, making personal attacks and deliberately inciting a negative response from other members. This is called trolling; in public forums and won't be tolerated here.* Users or groups of users who continue to attack other members because of their views and opinions, attempting to beat them down or demean them, will have posts deleted and may be banned.

As far as I was concerned that was the end of it. Posts removed. Member/members reminded of the rules. Hopefully the thread would remain on topic and my post would detract others from posting any further comments that others may deem as trolling or off topic behaviour.

Fair enough andy, if i were a mod he would be gone!! Like i said you were still posting while i created this thread.

I don't know why a lot of people hate on the Mods and always have little digs at them.

The Mods do a great job on this site and I'm sure this will continue in the future.

Surely accusing members of finding the rape of a 12 year old funny is trolling and deserves deleting or a suspension,

I have now locked this thread.

Thanks for your comments, but as I have explained exactly why I did what I did I see no reason for this thread to continue
