YESS I Agree

Unfortunately in the last 24 hours alone there have been in excess of 80 spammed deal posts (excluding the vouchers & freebies forums) - if we left the duplicates on the forum it wouldn't really be workable due to the sheer quantities of them

I've amend the OP with a suggestion for "expire as duplicate" - I suggested clearing them up and binning after 3 months. This period could be shortened depandant on volume.........

the issue is that expired threads can still be posted in and they will be bumped, meaning that a deal posted 5 times could have a discussion going on in 5 different threads, which would be confusing and important info could be missed by users

If we continue to spam the duplicate posts that are reposted within a one month period the relevant information is then contained within one up to date thread as highlighted by Boothy above. It's much better if we can help educate our members to check for duplicates properly before posting (preferably by using the advanced search) and then it wouldn't be an issue. Also if you see a duplicate if you could post a link to main deal thread & hit the 'Spam' button it will remove it from the forum & keep the main thread as the current up to date one.

Just as an example of a recent duplicate, this one deal has had 12 duplicate posts removed in the last few hours :

hotukdeals.com/ite…sbi

Leaving the duplicates on the forum would just bury the new deals - its much better to spam the duplicates & PM the member (where MOD spammed) & practise checking for existing posts using the advanced search before submission.

OK thanks for clarifying - that makes sense I guess

Aren't the threads just merged?
