Thats true, but my point is why set up a site where the default is to include expired stuff?? If you set it so the default is to exclude them then you could turn it on!!

Just in the feedback bit so not bothered and easy to do but makes no sense to me - who is looking for expired freebies, vouchers, competitions, deals etc??!!!

For instance on the FS threads you may want to see what something has been sold for previously so you don't buy something for too much or sell for too little.

Its easy enough to turn on and off so don't see it being a problem to anyone

Also some deals which have expired may get stock back in so it will save people reposting the deal if they can just get original reopened

get all that!!! Was just a comment on the feedback bit.....still makes no sense and i know its easy to turn off

If i set up a website, all i'm saying is my default would not be to include stuff that is no longer valid...give people the option ot look at expired stuff, but not a default!!

Not arguing, just commenting on something that seems very odd to me!!

Cool was just trying to answer your question.

Although sometimes it varies for me as defaults on different PCs when first log in

I'm sure they must of thought about it and decided this was the best way to do it personally its never bothered me

My default isn't 'Include' - it's 'Exclude' !! I don't know why.

and it's handy to have 'Include' as the default for various reasons ^^

because many people who are new wouldnt even know how to change the settings, so surely better to include everything as default and let those who know better customise and turn off things they dont want

Are you sure that's the default.
I personally have found loads of threads for people who say they can't find such and such a deal. It turns out that it was expired and they couldn't see it 'cos they DIDN'T have include expired turned on.

It includes expired by default because a hefty amount of discussion happens after the deal is over. It would be incredibly confusing for members to be chatting in a deal and then come back the day later to ask a question or check up only to find the thread has vanished.

With information it tends to be easier for people to make it disappear (so they know how to bring it back) rather than for them to try and make it appear without knowing why it's gone.

No they just get marked Expired and get EXPIRED inserted into the title.

The EXPIRED tag is frequently abused. Especially of late. I have seen plenty of deals that are marked expired though, at worst, they are simply dupes or rather much later repeats which, as far as I can see, should only be marked "spammed" if at all. Others have been expired incorrectly because they are in store only.

Others would simply seem to be expired in error or perhaps for deliberately without any reason.

It makes much more sense for these deals to be included by default. Excluding them will play into the more nefarious "Excluders" hands.

I hope moderators are keeping an eye on who is expiring deals.
