I think the heatwave badge comes & goes if you meet the criteria, it's not one that stays all the time
Heatwave

If the average deal temperature for all your deals is more than 200 degrees for 30 days, you will earn the heatwave badge. This is a tough badge to get... many deals don't last this long. Good luck!

Yes, the badge descriptions need a refresher. To keep the heatwave badge you must maintain the criteria.

This is a bad thing. As it discourages people from posting deals. If it's given it should stick. It will be good for the website if that happens.

It encourages people to continually post good deals, I would argue. Any particular reason as to why it discourages users from posting?

That period is still an improvement on the average time between listed deals during your membership.

I love posting deals. I have won and lost my Heatwave badge about 2 or 3 times. I love my Heatwave badge as it means I have done some good work and it sets me apart from others. And I hate losing it. So I won't post again until I am almost 100% sure that Hotukdealers will lap up a deal. Some borderline deals - which I predict would get something like 85% - like Syndicate on PC boxed for £20 by Coolshop (the cheapest boxed copy of the game) won't get posted by me. I'll stick my borderline deals in posting comments and replies rather than risk it.

The Heatwave badge is for an average score of over 200 over a 30 day reference period. Any given 30 day period. That 30 day period doesn't expire once it's been achieved. And that's why I won't risk my badge with a dud deal. It's not in danger of being lost by the most telepathic and active members like Andy or Missgem, etc. But it is for me. People who want to post deals but aren't always in the right place or the right time or have the right commercial connections.

If you want to encourage people to post more deals then the simple way is to expire the Heatwave badge if a 200 degree score isn't achieved on average continually after the most immediate 30 day period has passed. Or invent a new badge like "Home Run" or "Fireball" or "I'm on Fire" (nowt to do with Kasabian) for the perpetually hot posters.

You realise no one but you actually looks at the badges? I only glanced over because I saw the title to this thread.

That would be a very rare badge indeed.
I'd have lost mine recently if it existed, assuming I'd won it in the first place. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn219/jumpingphil/giggle1.gif

I doubt that's true. Time for a member survey? If no one cared about badges, then let's drop them altogether?

Csiman, less of the 'saddo' label. Feedback is a gift and I have benefitted from this site and just want to improve it.

Then this site would die within 6 months.

I doubt it, the school kids would probably leave, hopefully, and then this site could get on and be what it should be.
