These sale threads are fine to stay in the deals section.

....and managements decision is final of course!

Thanks for replying jay ..... I never expected a different answer than the one given but, with respect, these 'threads' as you call them do not constitute a deal. I have enough experience of the way that this site works now to know that admin will not change their stance but it is disappointing to see the basic ethos of this site becoming watered down by these non deal specific informational posts.
These are headlines that attract visitors to your site and generate revenue so by all means allow this information to be posted, but at least segregate this generic information from the real, specific deals.

I know that I am flogging a dead horse as my old grandmother used to say,but it frustrates me to see these somewhat lazy, vague posts being allowed.

Merry Christmas!

Where is the sports direct and DBS sale thread then?

agree with opened. sales are not deals and humid isn't a democracy, rather the users generate revenue for the owners and that's that

stupid autocorrect

It's getting stupid now, nearly every other deal is a 'sale event'.

Well obviously there are going to be sale events starting on Boxing Day for every retailer. Pathetic.

agree and most 'sales' are just the real price of the product anyway. if you paid more sooner, you feel like a sucker.

You're right, I compiled the list I posted without much effort at all. Unfortunately jay has been very clear about the fact that these non deals will be allowed. I know that the stock replies are

If you don't like it leave

or

You don't have to look at the posts

but the fact is that this is just another way that HUKD is changing, in my opinion, for the worst.
It would appear that the site will allow most things if there is a chance that it will attract visitors to the site and additional revenue even if it does mean lowering standards!

- Personally would prefer one post (not bothered where it sits) giving sale dates/times for retailers split by online and instore. Also if there are stages of the sale e.g. goes from 50% to 75% at x date then this would be useful. If a sale is good enough people will post the individual items anyway so no one is missing out.

- I dont mind the individual sale posts if it has a bit of detail around the product info and pricing e.g. The Currys sale gives a few product examples such as the ipad mini.

- Where there is little info around what is in the sale it could turn out to be not very good but has already been voted hot because of the retailer brand or the headline price in the heads up. You then get people moaning how rubbish the sale is once live.

Good points Chanchi, I agree with what you say. Money Saving Expert has a simple table showing stores, start date, percent discount etc. It shows all the info clearly and simply and works!
Many of these posts as you point out don't have details, they are merely an announcement of a sale so how they can be posted and more importantly, voted on as deals is beyond me.

Merry Christmas to you and thanks for the many great deals you've found and posted this year
