Thanks, care to recommend a browser that fully supports those standards ?

I guess you're implying that IE 8 doesn't .. even in compatibility mode.

I don't think it matters what you have, it appears to be an HUKD … I don't think it matters what you have, it appears to be an HUKD problem!!!!!!!

I have Avant, Firefox and IE8, the problem is HUKD not the browser.

its not hukd ....... its IE8 problem, as it doesnt follow the same coding guidelines as firefox does (w3c standards) and therefor isnt displaying images

the admin will need to write some code into the css & html code to tell IE8 to show the images correctly (same has to be done for IE6) on most websites

found a link for vbulletin talk about the IE8 problem

admin needs to turn on ie7 compatibility mode (if not already on)

gonna look for more info about this

also anyone with IE8 try this

1. In IE8 click on "Tools", then "Internet Options".
2. Now click on the "Security" tab. Select the zone "Internet", then
click "Custom Level".
3. Scroll down until you see "Display Mixed Content". Click the
"enable" bubble, and then click "Ok" to save the changes.

restart IE8 and see if images work now

Definately a HUKD problem. It does it in firefox & Opera as well. Smileys are always vanishing and reappearing later for me.

never had a problem here..... IE has never shown firefox orientated code well (due to microsoft ignoring the w3c standards)

can someone try the example above to see if that cures it ......

btw sy, i sometimes get where images don't appear etc its not a hukd problem exactly, its because the images are not being called correctly from the source code .... i just refresh the page and it works
it happens a bit on servers where there is a huge amount of traffic

Smileys used to work alright. I didn't change anything on my pc, and now they don't work. I think it is something to do with HUKD. Same thing happened last year (or was it the year the before?) when the smileys weren't working for a long period of time.

Tried this, makes no difference. This reply to thread box has only half the available smileys showing.
IE 8 compatibility mode is available for the site but makes no difference.

As an example, a recent thread contains quite a few smileys in the posts

hotukdeals.com/ite…ti/

I can see 1 or 2 at initial load , refreshed and they all disappeared.
It seems a completely random HUKD problem.

yep .. all appeared on initial load of post , refreshed page and they all disappeared

It's not just IE. I have some missing on Firefox. Sometimes they are there and sometimes they aren't.

I use Maxthon browser and have the same problem

I'm on Firefox and sometimes get missing emoticons.

Using Firefox 3.0.6 and page:

hotukdeals.com/ite…=17

The smileys change between reloads of the page

How long does it take to solve this problem? Various smileys have been coming and going for week now.
