Sloth/Mod

I assume you mean the Go Go Hamster on Amazon?

I doubt it was mod removed..........it will be member spammed.

What about the "Staff Only" deals which Microsoft are angry about. Don't you think it should have been removed right away and not let the "fraudsters" get away with talking about not working for any of the listed companies?

No, they should be allowed to stay as it's still a deal for those that work for the companies involved. (which i'm sure many here do in regards to that deal)

The site can't be liable for people who act fraudulently.

Juliet_bravo thanks for the info.

It's just a bit weird I thought that normally if is a duplicate then a comment is added at the end of the deal with a link to the original and maybe lock it if the mods do not want further comments on it.

As long as the deal itself is legal then it should stay up. That's my thought.

Actually, that is a good idea. It would save all the "wheres my thread … Actually, that is a good idea. It would save all the "wheres my thread gone's"

I can see the advantages but what if the same deal is posted 5 times? should they all be left up or not?

Leaving them up would hopefully reduce the chance of them being re-posted but it could get a bit messy and members might get lazy and not bother to check if the deal has already been posted (if they know the deal is going to be left up).

There have been times where we've seen a duplicate post about 30 or more times too...

if it was posted 30 times then when people are searching before posting the same deal, the search might actually bring one of them up so they can see its a dupe

Thanks for the info guys,

But I think in the end the duplicates issues comes down to the "Search" option which I think we can all agree that is useless. If the mod or admin spend too much time removing duplicates, it might be worth investing that time in developing a new search.

If we could search "properly" by companies that would be a great bonus. I can see that is difficult to find a duplicate deal if people post different Titles but in the end if you see all the "active" deals for a company that could minimise this issue.

Once again thanks for the help.

Feel free to close this thread.

You have to be fairly persistent to post a dupe. First if you use the same url it is flagged when you got to submit and you have to ignore that, then it shows the most recent deals posted for that merchant also. So really that's quite a few things to ignore even if you *didn't* search.

Improving the search is always a goal but really most people are not going to bother to search before submitting something.
