How can I show my appreciation when I can't like the OP, or have I missed something? Rep could be given on a 1st post could it not?

Write "Thank you" in a following comment & if the thread creator responds use the [Like this comment] icon on that.

Good idea, but if you look at the thread in question the OP would never see such a comment
hotukdeals.com/dea…e=7 would just be easier to have a like for the OP

I hsve reported comment #157.

A like button for the first post would be a welcome edition. I always like one of the ops posts but this was be quicker and easier then searching the thread.

Why?

It did not comply with the site's "code of conduct". The Moderators obviously took the same view as that comment, & others from the same thread, have now been removed.

You have not done that in this thread (yet).

Wouldn't you vote on the deal as being hot? (exception being a non voting thread). Is it that important to merit further changes ?

This would be a sign of appreciation, albeit anonymous.

Personally I wouldn't be picking up on Antibes spelling mistakes or wrong choice of word. Whenever using the iPad, autocorrect or suggested words kick in. It's happened here already. Antibes should infact have stated 'anyones'. I rarely look back on my spelling, but given the explosion of devices with autocorrect or suggested word replacements, I'd tend to err on the side of caution.

If anyone knows how to switch off autocorrect or ignore suggested words, do give me a shout.

Device?

Yes.

Yes.

I meant which device. I know you mentioned autocorrect on the ipad, but is that what you have?
If so then there's this (I'm possibly confused as I'm 100% sure you'd find this yourself).

As for ignoring suggested words, I use Swiftkey on my Desire which predicts 3 alternative words as you type, although I'm not sure if it's Android only. (edit: I think it is Android only so disregard if you like)

Ha, I haven't looked deep enough, iPad it is. Found another shortcut not so long ago re jumping to the top of the screen by tapping the address bar. There's probably tons more that i've not got around to discovering yet.

Checking out your link, so thanks for the assistance

As the "likes" are a sort of replacement for rep then yes it would be a useful addition. In the past if someone posted a good deal heat AND rep would be added and it would be nice to do the same with the "like" function.

"Liking" a deal that someone has posted (which you can't do from the OP) seems more worthwhile than liking an insult in a thread (which you can do)......

Deek72,

Lol, ok, looks pretty simple and in the sort of location I'd expect it to be.

Cheers

Deek72,

The reason I've not delved into that level, my problem really relates to the odd word or 2. I'd like to keep autocorrect, but override it in certain cases.

Cheers

Hey, you don't have to explain to me, boss
If you don't manage to get it to behave how you want it to, then I'd look into 3rd party keyboard apps. As I mentioned I use Swiftkey on my Desire and it's light years ahead of the default one. It learns as you type so you can soon type entire sentences using just one key! I'm sure there must be equivalent apps for Ipad.

Lol, was a bit of a thread jack I suppose

Problem solved btw, any words to be replaced can be ignored by clicking the wee x to override. Quite simple really oO

like system was never important enough to merit existence at all but if it is to exist then it could be done 'properly'
heat is not necessarily dependant on a post being liked and vice-versa.
original posters dont always reply in their own threads so later posts couldn't be 'liked' anyway.

check out this one hotukdeals.com/fee…582
one person makes a good point, and a well written post about it. next person just writes 3 words in agreement and gets all of the likes! X)

I totally agree or, rather, I agree totally.
