o yea im on safari on a macbook

Yeah it doesn't break the link apart b/c it sees it as one long string and doesn't know when to wrap it.

How do you do that thing where a long link can be condensed to one word ??
Often wondered , never asked.

Thanks in anticipation

Do you mean tinyurl? Just go to the tinyurl site put it in and it will give you a tinyurl. Generally they are frowned on in forums though because they hide where the link is going.

Not sure will try and find an example

Like C32 has done in this post
hotukdeals.com/for…314

hovering over still shows where it's going to ?

yep - its a long time bug hence why people put the link in the second post. About time it was fixed tbh.

It's not really a bug it's because the first post is not handled by vb so it doesn't support BB code.

So there's no way round it ? It will always be that way ?

The way around is we would have to allow some html in the first post I think. The problem with allowing html is it can introduce some security problems. That's my understanding of what I've been told

Why would it be a security risk in the first post, but no other post!? :?

The first post isn't handled by VB so we would need to allow html. VB avoids the problems of security with user html by making the VBcode which is a version of BBcode. Both BBcode and VBcode exist to allow users "html-like" functionality in the posts without allowing html.

It would be a nice addition to parse BB/VBcode in the first post, it is rather annoying that it doesn't.

It is actually really easy to do, you can still run it through a VBcode parser. Just becuase that post isn't handled by VB, doesn't mean it can't be parsed.

Have a word with your web guy, they are notorious for saying soemthing is too difficult when in fact what they mean is they can't be arsed :whistling:;-):-D
