What's a bad suggestion?

As you already know thesaint, the mods write "..........." to show who it was that locked the thread.

btw this thread comes up as being in deal requests for some reason.

I know they do, but they don't have to. I contacted a mod the 1st two times, and they then locked further threads without writing a new post. So it is not mandatory.
A thread that hasn't been written in for 4 months doesn't need a moderator to put the reason for closure.

When it happens in 10 - 20 threads within minutes, it's unfair on those with active trades.

I think you went to Deal Requests, and then went to the search function.

It was posted in Feedback, and there it remains.

OK.

I know it's posted in feedback, but loads of threads are looking (from the top bar) like they're in deal requests.

i was advised via pm by sigma to expire all my old threads to avoid any unnecessary infractions for relisting, hence the barrage of expired threads.

I get what you are saying, not sure why they need to write in them, maybe for the newer ones.

It knocks legitimate active threads of the page.

You could just click the "exclude expired" on the toolbar, not sure why you feel the need to keep an eye on all of the expired ones, that way non of the active threads get effected..

Yeh, but the mods need to make sure they can check all the threads! :w00t:

Now that is an excellent suggestion :-D

The main reason we have to comment is for the 7 day re-list rule. It's 7 days from when a MOD locks a thread not when a member expires it, & the lock date isn't displayed. To be honest it's better to clear out old threads & then get in a habit of requesting them to be closed after feedback has been left each time, than getting possible future infraction points. These can compound into suspensions so it can actually be quite serious if you have 2/3 in a short period of time.

Leaving thread now, as my hair is still white from the thread. ;-)

Ahh, there you go, good point well made.

LMFAO:thumbsup:

We don't always comment. Some of us edit the last reply and place the fact that we've closed the thread in the "reason", which displays the time stamp.

I tend to post a comment if the OP wasn't the last to repspond...

^^^ Another clever man there ^^^

The only other exception to just adding info into OPs last post rather than making a new post, would be when it was concerning an infraction & we had to post links & relevant info on HUKD rules etc in thread. (I did quite a few of those tonight). I was told to post that the thread had been locked, but if it was just a straightforward OP request to close thread as feedback has been left etc, then it's a good alternative for older threads (if you haven't excluded expired). I'll give it a go in future

"Expired" does not mean anything in the "For Sale/Trade" forum, threads need to be locked, not expired, so this suggestion is not viable.

I think that this is the best solution, it's not a major problem, but when it happens en masse like the times I have highlighted, it is irritating.
Especially on threads that are months old.

I don't understand, not Viable to not show the expired ones which would stop you experiencing the issue you mention?

The mods know what I mean, and seem to have come to a solution that works better for everyone.
