Yep posts seem to be disappearing

hotukdeals.com/for…256

Was about a £200 cashback nokia deal, disappeared.

It's usually because a moderator has removed the post for a reason. Probably a duplicate posting or spamming of the forum. Sometimes it might just be whilst the deal is checked out.

Unfortunately, the notification e-mails get sent as soon as the deal is posted...

Hope that helps and sorry for the missing deals you expect to see when clicking the links

Yes it would be the reason Ray gave. The email notification would go out right away but then a mod or other users mark the post as spam and poof when you visit the link there will be no matching deal found.

This may sound extremely selfish and arrogant, but is editing the offending posts and saying why just not a better way?
Removing them bluntly like that is a bit over the top imho.

No it's not selfish or arrogant, but if a post contains referral links or similar, just editing it out would give the offending poster licence to continue [not all of them are referrals, that's an example].

I think you'd be more annoyed if you clicked a link and found it pointed to some sort of scam deal or offensive material [another example only but one we've had a few of recently].

Basically, they're all moved quickly by whoever finds them. This gives time to assess each one for whatever the problem is, rather than leave it for people to get let down or upset by...

Thanks for clarifying that, it makes sense.

spam is removed without saying why because is the right thing to do
the free bet post has been deleted from freebies and re-opened on hot deals forum because you need to spend something to get the freebie so is not a full freebie

*edit: too late... I'm slow

EDIT: I'm a few minutes too late too, lol.

Many of them are just spam though.

Also, duplicates then clutter up the forums. Firstly, the credit should go to the first person who found it really... that's the whole point of the new system, the mods don't take credit for everything on the front page. Secondly, the same deals come up in the forums. This not only splits conversation about the deal up (someone could post vital info about the deal in one thread and anyone browsing the other wouldn't see it) and also can get quite annoying to forum users, of whom there are more than email subscribers.

Most forums operate in this way, removing spam and unnecessary posts as they go along. It keeps the place tidy. The most un-selfish thing we do is allow people to get alerted to new deals immediately via email, something very few sites are able to do.

Not at all... we encourage members to check that deals haven't already been posted and aren't spam. It's better to totally remove them causing problems for a few email users tahn have a forum post in the index that simply says "you can't post this because it was posted before" which would inconvenience the other 8,000 forum members.

Also spam just disappears also because it that is how the voting system works. If you see a post in Hot Deals or Freebies that you think is spam you can click on the Spam button. Once enough users click Spam it will automatically be marked as spam and will disappear.

That's okay steffcip lol The deals you've mentioned are another good reason as to why they're moved Thanks!
