A good idea, Poison

When I see this kind of thing, I always try to add retailer names in. It's more common that people don't put prices in the title though. I like the idea of an automatic thing though. One site I have seen has a small avatar of the retailer's logo beside every deal post. Think that works quite well, but would probably not be suitable in the way our forum is currently laid out.

Very good idea, I'm fed up of clicking on good deals only to find that the nearest shop is over 50 miles away from me.

I hate to bring this up again but looking at the home page at the moment I'm posting this I see the top few deals don't mention the retailers in the title and few, from my quick skim, even mention them in the description. It's not until I go to the forum thread that I clearly see who the retailer is. However, I never check the forums unless I want to leave/read comments about a deal. Otherwise I just skim the home page in work while no-one's looking

I'm Web Designer by day so I do tend to analyse these things (can be a pain in the butt sometimes) and bear in mind that I'm viewing this site with a fresh pair of eyes whilst most of you are used to how the place works and where to find things

Yep good to have a pair of fresh eyes PoisonJam

To be honest though I'm not sure of how to implement this technically - checking if the merchant name exists in the title is a nightmare as there are so many variations that it couldn't be checked properly.

The merchant is shown in every single deal post - see the red text saying Find more ... and "merchant name" deals in the lower part of the thread.

Not foolproof but I'd have thought pretty easy...
Where it currently only says "Title" next to space to put your title could the wording not be increased to say "Title inc Full price & Supplier"
Think we've all spotted some very sketchy titles & seen Emma's "Welcome to HUKD...I've added all the stuff you hadn't now PLEASE READ MY SIGS FOR HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY!!!!!".

(I know the others will edit to add more detail as well but maybe just because hers was the most recent I remember Emma's)

Emma you say it with love & patience far in excess of anything I'd be capable of mustering up....kinda like a mother hen explaining things to the most simple-minded of it's chicks & we love ya for it!?!?!?

That we could do yes, I meant doing it automatically in my post.

Cant you just make it so that the user cannot create the title, it is done totally automaticly...

i always try and use the layout...

e-tailer: product title @ £xx.xx

Awwww...sweet! :-D

Sometimes you cant fit it all in

You could almost do with a spreadsheet style input. I.e.
Field 1: Company, Field 2: Item description, Field 3: Price Field 4: Current Hotometer score.

I would prefer that layout myself. The forum page would then show deals in an easy to read manner. It may look a bit draconian but anybody viewing could scan so much easier, rather than reading 30 people’s posts who all write them completely differently.

Is it possible, instead of one box to enter the title there would be 3 and they would all be required fields (so if left blank the post won't go through), 1 asking for item, 1 asking for the retailer and 1 asking for the price, then when it is parsed into the new thread it would appear as "Item at Retailer for Price'.
