I noticed that all the deals on the first page of the hot tab had been … I noticed that all the deals on the first page of the hot tab had been voted hot within the last 10 minutes or so,

sorry if I have read ur post wrong btw - but doesnt the front page of the hot section show deals that have newly gone hot? So in that case everything is as it should be?

Does look a bit odd tbh. Normally you would expect some sort of time delay if only a few minutes.

Definatly something not right, there was about 25 deals that were made hot within 5 minutes of each other about an hour ago, and the ones that I checked were all posted more than a week ago. Why anyone would want to do this I have no idea

I don't understand what the problem is?

I have done this before scanning the pages and noticing deals hitting 89 heat. Bumping them over the margain of heat maybe 5-6 deals in one go. The deals should be hot but I don't see what your point is?

Somebody is using the search to order the deals by heat, finding a load just under the 100 degree threshold and voting them over it.

Pushing a deal they want further down the list so less people see it? Clearing soon-to-be-hot deals out of the way then voting their own to the top of the front page so it stays there longer? Or just for the lulz?

Either way, it's abuse, look into it mods

Look at the screenshots, the deals are all weeks old, that's the problem.

Okay, but don't see why it would benefit anyone whatsoever to heat deals that are that old :?

]bod emrys, how are you viewing the forum in those screenshots? I went to the main page on HUKD (which is all / deals / hot) and I see a totally different list of threads.

Exactly the same view as you (all deals organised by when they became … Exactly the same view as you (all deals organised by when they became hot). There was a bit of a time delay between the screenshots and my post I'm afraid, I've just checked and the posts that I took a screenshot of are now down to page 3.It's a lot harder to spot by now as people have commented on the threads since they were voted hot, so you don't have the long list of deals that have just been voted hot but not commented on for 3 weeks. It is only obvious if you view the forum just after a batch of deals have been voted hot, but before people have had a chance to comment on the thread.Exactly :thumbsup:Nor me, I've no idea why anyone would want to do this but they are manipulating the system which is why I thought it should be brought to the mods attention.

I am trying to get the same view as you so I can see the posts to know which ones to check out. So... starting from the ipod post which is at the top of your list... here's what I am seeing. Totally different...

I have it set to include expired and offline deals too.

If someone's browsing HUKD in work and can't order online or can't get into the shops until they finish work, a hot deal that they wish to order pops up on the front page and is so good it probably won't last long before it goes OOS, if they then go and vote a load of old deals onto the front page, knocking the deal to page 2 or further, they have a far better chance of the deal still being active when they finally clock off.

It would take longer to do that than it would to order the item in the first place??

More likely to be someone being disruptive for the sake of it, or perhaps enjoying the "power" of making deals hot

Would have though mods could clarify if it is one person doing it, or a once a month random event happening, well, randomly

Thanks ]bod emrys. We're looking into it anyway and will sort it if there is a voting issue.

What have you found out over the past 48 hrs? Is it a voting issue and if so has anyone been suspended for voting hot deals (circa 89 degrees) hotter ?? :-D

It was passed on to the development team, nothing I can really add.

Just noticed it's happened again, just now. Between around 2:05pm and 2:10pm, 3 and a half pages of deals going over the hot threshold.

+1 I've noticed this happen just now and quite a few other times too.

Is there any legitimate reason why anybody would desperately need to search for deals with a specific heat value?

Because as I said that's what I suspect is causing this, eg.
=1&categories[]=all&advanced_search=search+now"]http//ww…Now

I would suggest removing the option.

It's just happened again, a whole page full of boarderline hot deals voted top the front page within minutes, many of which hadn't been commented on for over a week.
