Its a combination of rep and how may "hot" deals you have posted I believe.

You were giving 9 degrees last week? With that rep i'm presuming someone else was voting at the same time as you?

no it was def 9 last week, maybe it was a mistake then by HUKD? I voted quite a few times on things up and down, so dont think people were voting at same time

I have the same thing. My heat went up to 9, then down to 8 and it's now 7. I have posted a few deals too.

It's just gone down to 6!

If you post a bad deal, then your voting power may reduce.

Nine degrees seems a lot for you to be giving.
Nine degrees is what i give and i have over 6000 rep:thinking:
perhaps people did vote at the same time as you, and someone probably just gave you some rep, that should be visible in the control panel.

What is a bad deal my voting power has now dropped to 7 (was 9 then 8), i have never posted a cold deal have one on the hot page as we speak. something weird going on me thinks

I just checked, I'm still able to vote nine degrees.

Have a glance at the help thread for newcomers in my sig.... some useful explanations in there

I think I heard that a hot deal is considered hot when it reaches 40 degrees, one of your recent threads hasn't reached this threshold, so would be considered cold?

The formula is an amalgamation of different things, so impossible to get a definite answer.

Rep doesn't come into it all that much I don't think.

I don't think a deal which hasn't reached the "front page" or the "hot" tab is considered as cold unless it's sub-zero! Also, that threshold changes sometimes (it's currently about 60).

Your vote does take a lot into consideration, as thesaint has pointed out. One "cold" deal shouldn't matter if you post quite a few of them, though. If there's many changes in voting score you seem to be able to give, then it may be because (as previously mentioned) someone has voted cold in the time between you opening the thread and you voting.

Emma's guide shows how voting power is made up it does not explain why it goes down, btw just wondering not complaining (thought i'd have to put in a lot more post/deals to get to were i am at the moment)

But it does explain that it is an "average", so the fact that it might go down is an integrated part of that.
