Lots of stuff that's free anyway, but a few crackers in here!

    Castle of Illusion
    ducktales
    Lords of Midnight

What's also interesting is that for some apps it states that IAPs are free. Not sure whether that's the case but great if so!

With a name like Underground it makes it sounds like its one of those Cracked App stores with pirated content.
    Good find though.

I just checked. AU also wants the power to send SMS messages. Why?

I believe that in China and some countries in the Middle East customers prefer the option to register using a mobile number instead of an email address, therefore text messages are used to confirm purchases, etc, rather than email confirmation... something like that. Anyway, they have one version of the app that covers all reqions, and thus has lots of permissions, but not all functions/permissions are actively utilised in every region.

Out of interest, do you trust Amazon any more or less than Google? I can't see this being any worse than owning a Kindle Fire or Amazon Echo. Personally, I'm not too worried about these large, heavily scrutinized companies, and Amazon certainly knows my purchasing habits already!

As I mentioned above, I don't see how this can be any more "risky" than owning a Kindle Fire Tablet, which thousands of people own... I see no reason to be overly concerned and go into Saracen mode!

I can't be bothered with this underground app nonsense.

So now you need Amazon app for the online website (which also offers apps), you need the Amazon App Store app for mobile apps (which are already offered on the main store) but is needed to physically install the apps on your device.

You need the kindle app to manage your books. Hmm okay!

But why do we now need this all new so called 'underground app' to get the same free apps that were previously offered on the original Amazon App Store?

    What am I missing?

I couldn't install via the old Appstore on my device, but I had success downloading the apk from the link and then sideloading.

Amazon's app permissions are disturbing. Twice I've gone to download this but then read a list of really unreasonable permissions and cancel. Well bad

I don't normally find the permissions on apps an issue but this one takes the pee, was going to install it until I saw that list of permissions flag up on my phone. No thanks.
  15. flimbo73's avatar
Yep, those permissions are beyond ridiculous. Nope from me!!!!
Why does the app need to record audio, read the users contacts data, monitor incoming SMS messages to record or perform processing on them, access the camera etc.
In the case of this app, YOU are the product.

The Underground app that comes up in the Amazon app store is like an enhanced Amazon shopping app. Best way to download is to use the deal link and install it that way.
