For phone, I use T-Mobile. Cold. I know it's a good deal for many, but the deal is misleading and that's a problem for a lot of customers.

sorry, but I have to say this. What part of the ops description in big letters in the topic name and description did you not understand ? Please read the topic etc before you make a comment and embarrass yourself. I for one would like to see a points deduction system in place for people who vote cold and leave comments that clearly show they did not read the topic clearly as this just dilutes the thread with pointless views.

I hope it's more reliable than their broadband service

    Having trouble with yours?
You can ask me if you want as it's my job (for my sins).

You can be on any mobile network Mantis, as far as you have a Virgin Landline you can get the app on your smart phone & use your home phone package.
Here's one better. Virgin will allow you to use this on 2 smart phones at the same time. The app is built in such a way that it should not incur any financial cost as it will give you the message stating the call you're trying to make is not a smart call then you have the option to make an informed decision if you want to use your network minutes. Hope this info helps. To keep it simple imagine your house phone on your mobile with you when you are on a WiFi connection. if you have the basic Line rental only even then you can be in USA having coffee in Starbucks on a Saturday or Sunday making land line calls to UK local numbers using the free to use WiFi and also dialing 0800 numbers anytime of the day or night all days using this app as most mobile operators charge for 0800 calls this is your way of saving on those charges.

Exactly. Virgin landline, but not all Virgin Media customers have a … Exactly. Virgin landline, but not all Virgin Media customers have a landline. Since this uses Wi-Fi, it's not really related to a landline anyway in the first place. You could be paying the same amount of cash for broadband as somebody else paying for the landline. They're still getting the same money. I have no need for a landline because I have a mobile contract. I'm only voting this cold because it's misleading. If it was made specifically clear it's for landline customers only I wouldn't have voted.Thank you for the suggestions though. They may help somebody else.

Appreciate pointing out the detail Mantis, Header altered to be more specific. This is Virgins way to revive the dying telephone industry. Calling your elderly family who don't use smart phones & prefer the landline, its a great way to be calling the UK and updating your family back home for free. Mobile operators will charge you an arm and a leg for the same call.

App says you need to visit virginmedia.com/smartcall to get a four digit … App says you need to visit virginmedia.com/smartcall to get a four digit code to link the aso to your account, but that address doesn't have any way of doing that. Any one managed to use the app yet?

Even though the app is available for download - we may not be s le to register & get codes until tomorrow as apparently 29th is when it comes live.
  8. cypher1055's avatar
You can do it by logging into my virgin media, then go to add app & select the smart call & follow the instruction & you will have it running in no time.I have just got it working on my iPhone.

is this like viber, instead people can call your land line?
  12. solid's avatar
I don't think so - instead it uses wifi to act as though you are calling from your landline (and use all the benefits that come with your landline) when you are actually using your mobile instead and when your mobile is connected to any wifi (at home or abroad).

    Sounds pretty good!

Virgin is not the only service provider out there. If you are so unhappy why don't you change providers, I wonder?
