Tis 86.9 at our local shell. Odd because cheapest anywhere else is 89.9 in the local area.

Surely the prices will vary massively across the country though?

Great, does this mean that at last, diesel is coming down?

Come Monday VAT is down to 15% so fuel should be even cheaper by then.

    Voted hot

You'll be lucky to get 1p off, if anything.

Keeping within the nature of the I've seen it 87.9p which I wouldn't class as a deal even so I'm voting cold

If it was a deal, I'd like to see a free Wii with every 50 litres or something.

edit: 87.9 in Waitrose, Sheffield btw

    How is this a bargain?

With oil at less than 50$ a barrel, petrol should be at the most around 83p per litre and diesel the SAME

The VAT comment is wrong ...

The Government have put up duty on Petrol to offset that VAT reduction.

I also contest the word 'bargain' - £1.04 for every litre of diesel I put in is almost 20p more than last year. Its a flaming scam...

    There - off my chest...

Diesel is £106.9 in Cambridge! or £116.9 if you want the ultimate (I think not at the moment)

It is still, though, cheaper than mineral water!

Why has the price differential between diesel and unleaded gone from 6p last year to about 16p this year?

Answer: the petrol companies are SUBSIDISING the price of unleaded by overcharging for diesel. This could well be down to the fact that company car drivers (who don't usually pay for their own fuel) by and large drive diesel cars now, so they are a soft target...

Wow only another 15p off diesel and its where it should be.

there will be no reduction in fuel duty due to vat change as change is offset against a rise in fuel duty, sneaky sods the goverment, ppl think they get vat reduction, but isnt gona happen

no because they have taken 2.5% off vat but added 2.5% to fuel duty so it … no because they have taken 2.5% off vat but added 2.5% to fuel duty so it will make no difference.

    actually thats incorrect.

    fuel duty was 50.5p and 17.5% added VAT (8.84p) = 59.34p in tax/duty

    since darlings stealth increasing budget

    fuel duty now 52.5p and 15% added VAT (7.88p) = 60.37p in tax/duty

So tax actually has gone up

Not forgetting the 8% increase in alcohol duty which he conveniently forgot to mention during the budget speech

Correct VAT i coming down, but the wonderful chancellor has increased fuel duty by the 2.5.% so we will not benefit in reduction from VAT! :x

I cannot believe they actualy sell any of the Diesel Ultimate fuel, given the scandelous price, and the Which magazine report on so called super fuels earlier this year. Anyone who buys it is a moron.

If you have an Egg card currently they are giving a further 2% instant cashback on Shell fuel

Diesel is still far cheaper in France than Petrol check out the Auchan Calais site (in English) to compare
