Apple customers in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK can purchase genuine Apple parts and tools from today.
Apple has announced that its Self Service Repair store for iPhones and MacBooks is now available online in the UK. The repair store allows you to buy or rent kits to fix your faulty or broken devices.
Those who wish to complete their own repairs can do so with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups — including Pro and Mini.
You can also get kits for MacBooks too, specifically the 2020 M1 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 14- and 16-inch 2021 M1 Pros.
Note that it is quite difficult to do, so only buy them if you have experience of repair jobs. You will essentially receive the same manuals, parts, and tools as Apple Store staff.
However, you won’t receive the same amount of training and if and when you do attempt a repair, any warranty is void.
Apple self service repair
“We believe the best technology for our customers and for the planet is technology that lasts, which is why we design our products to be durable and rarely require maintenance or repair,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer.
“But when a repair is needed, we want customers to have many options for safe, reliable, and secure repair. That’s why we’re excited to launch Self Service Repair in Europe, giving our customers direct access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and manuals.”
Apple will also offer tool rental kits for £54.90, for customers who do not want to purchase tools for a single repair. The weeklong rental kits will ship to customers for free, which is nice.
According to Apple, it has nearly doubled the number of service locations in Europe. This means places with access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and training, including more than 4,000 Independent Repair Providers (those outside of Apple Stores).
This network supports more than 100,000 active technicians, which means eight out of 10 Apple customers are within 30 minutes of an authorised repair service in Europe. The Apple Self Service Repair kits are available in eight European countries — the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.
