Today marks the release of frenetic slasher Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the latest creation by Team Ninja. It’s essentially a soulslike RPG set in a supernatural Three Kingdoms era China.
Amazingly, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can download the game at no extra cost today. The game is available on console, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
What is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty?
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the latest RPG developed by Team Ninja of Nioh fame (or infamy). It’s a challenging game that will put both your coordination and patience to the test. Even the slightest mistake is heavily penalised.
If you’re familiar with Nioh or Nioh 2, the soul-crushingly brutal games set in feudal Japan, you won’t be surprised that Wo Long has zero tolerance for the unskilled player — it follows the same punishing difficulty level and demands precision and skill.
Reports from players who have previewed the game say that the even first boss is a difficult obstacle to overcome. Some have even given up on the game after multiple fearsome deaths. Sounds fun…
In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you embark on an adventure as a soldier trying to survive in a dark fantasy version of the late Han Dynasty. The story features demonic creatures tormenting the Three Kingdoms, and you will need to use your combat skills — inspired by Chinese martial arts — to defeat these evil being to progress through the game.
What is Game Pass?
For those who don’t know, Xbox Game Pass offers three subscription options: Ultimate, PC, and Console. You can download and play an ever-changing catalogue of top rated games.
The Ultimate subscription allows you to access both PC and console games, plus a subscription to Xbox Gold so you can play multiplayer, for a monthly fee of £10.99. You can even try it out for the first month for only £1.
It essentially gives you an opportunity to play a vast catalogue of video games without having to buy each title separately. So if you’re a passionate gamer who enjoys testing out new games all the time, then a subscription could prove to be very cost-effective.
If you don’t have a console, but want one, then you could opt for the very handy Xbox All Access, which offers a console and a subscription for a set amount each month for two years.
