Command & Conquer and its sequel, Red Alert are available to download on Steam for just £2.69 at the moment. These games brought about a love for strategy games that has carried on through the ages.

25 years ago, the Real Time Strategy game was defined by Command & Conquer. Now fully remastered in 4K by the team at Petroglyph Games, which includes former members of Westwood Studios.

This remastered package includes two games, all three expansion packs, a rebuilt multiplayer, modernised UI, map editor, a bonus gallery of unreleased FMV footage, and over seven hours of legendary music by Frank Klepacki, remastered of course.

For those that remember it, this was a seminal game in the genre, and a lot of what followed stems from this collection.

The remastered Command & Conquer features include:

• Graphics Switching allows you to switch in real-time between legacy and remastered 4K graphics when in solo play.
• Bonus Gallery of over 4 hours of B-roll footage, making-of photos, and unreleased music tracks.
• Over 7 hours of remastered music, including 20 tracks re-recorded live by original composer Frank Klepacki and the Tiberian Sons.
• Mod Support give you the ability to create, share, and play mods through Steam Workshop.
• Cinematics are upscaled with full-motion video footage for an immersive experience.
• A modernised, less-scrolling design for the game’s interface.
• Customise the entire soundtrack with playlist support.
• Host or join lobbies to set game rules, teams, and maps.
• Compete in 1v1 Quickmatches to Rise Through the Ranks.
• Watch all the action in replays or observe live matches in Observer mode.
