The third season of The Mandalorian will premiere on 1 March on Disney+. The new trailer was revealed a few days ago. What can we expect from this third foray into the Star Wars spin-off?
Astonishingly, more than two years have passed since the second series of The Mandalorian. The trailer for the third season has been released by Disney+, and it looks epic!
But before getting ahead of ourselves, here’s a short recap to get you back into the swing of things. At the end of season 2, released way back in October 2020, the Mandalorian AKA Din Djarin entrusted Grogu to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. And here’s where it gets interesting.
If you haven’t already, you should watch The Book of Boba Fett before starting season 3. The story arc, released in December 2021, while mainly focussing on Boba Fett, grants you access to the aftermath of season 2 of The Mandalorian and Din Djarin’s purpose. It gives you much more insight into the story and why he’s bound to Grogu.
With Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi already available, and Ahsoka on the way, The Mandalorian remains one of the firm favourites in the Star Wars universe (or galaxy).
What can we expect for the third season of The Mandalorian?
You will of course find Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, on screen at the moment in The Last of Us, he is seemingly everywhere.
The trailer for the third season opens with a group of heavily armoured Mandalorians moving through a desert landscape. So far, so Star Wars.
The Mandalorians are scattered throughout the galaxy, and considering Din holds the Blade of Mandalore, will his goal this season be to unite the clans behind him?
Following this, Din and his acolytes land to fight alongside their friend, Greef Karga, now the governor of the planet Nevarro. There he meets The Armourer, an ally, whom he tells he wishes to return to Mandalore in order to be forgiven for his transgressions. In the second season, he revealed his face,. This is strictly forbidden by the code he lives by — The Way of Mandalore.
In the final scene, we see Grogu in Jedi mode, using the Force against a strange creature. You could imagine that Grogu should have more power and independence than in the previous two seasons.
Watch the trailer below, the whole series will be released on 1 March, 2023. The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, and The Book of Boba Fett are available to stream now on Disney+.
