Oppo Reno4 Z 5G, 8GB RAM, 6.57”, SIM Free, 128GB, White £259.95 @ John Lewis & Partners

The Oppo Reno 4 Z smartphone has been created with a 6.4” AMOLED display, 8GB RAM, a 32MP selfie camera and 48MP + 8MP + 2MP rear lenses – there’s also a handy battery that can ful… Read more

All those areas quoted are about 500 metres squared so hardly anywhere really. It will be years now Huawei have been dumped.Other countries might get in there .

This phone doesn't have an AMOLED screen. Older mid-range Oppos have AMOLED, and they're spectacularly good. But, it's now changed policy - keep the price down, presumably - and this one has an LCD screen. Haven't seen it, but apparently it's very good but not AMOLED. Pity, because the other specs of this phone are really good for the price. Oppo Reno4 Z specs

And I do agree with you regarding Huawei’s ban from 2027. Ericsson, Nokia etc are gearing themselves up to the task and who knows what future brings. What if they reverse the decision and lift the ban of Huawei considering the huge costs involved. But as of now, its there in this many cities and people living there can make use of it. There is a state of the art research centre in University of Surrey that contributed a lot to the 5g development. They have already started with the research on 6g! surrey.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2020-11/6g-wireless-a-new-strategic-vision-paper.pdf So we can’t just neglect any future possibilities.

Sorry, I beg to differ. Through Vodafone, 44 locations in UK (another 70 in EU) have 5g connection now. I live in one and the connection is faster than my home broadband. Other providers too have joined: EE in 70 UK locations 3 Mobile in 66 UK locations O2 in 30 UK locations Its currently being rolled out to more locations as we speak. Hardly 4g in most places in a overstatement. I do agree that there are many places without 4g connectivity. But I wouldn’t say “most”. And end of the day, its up to the consumer who are looking for and using the products. People living in 5g areas would like to make use of 5g, even if they are a small percentage right now.

5g? There's hardly 4g most places and with no Huawei equipment 5g is a long way away after this phone is redundant

That's not a chin This is a chin!

You're right, the Nokia 8 didn't cost me £300. It cost me £340 in November 2017. And a very good deal it was too.

1. That phone did not cost £300 2. At least yours has symmetry (chin + forehead)

Well, given that this is my current phone, I think I could live with the Oppo's chin! ;)

Aliexpress add UK VAT on orders under £135 now ( since 1st Jan ). You no longer get UK customs charges as these are already paid. Its the same for Ebay Chinese sellers now ( even ones with stock in the UK) - but the Ebay listed price is shown includes the VAT . When you buy it then shows the purchase price was lower ( it then shows it ex VAT)

Blackview are solid phones. Had the A60 Pro model as temp phone but then kept it as a main phone for a year or so. Never had any issues and always work well. Would recommend if you are on a tight budget.

TCB or Quidco

You'd be lucky to get one major update on these black view phones, if your looking for long term android updates go for one of Samsung's more budget devices because then you at least get guaranteed 2 years of software support

I got a Blackview A80 pro on amazon last year to use on holiday, amazing, well build and sturdy phone with great features, from memory it was around 80 quid, I get updates every 6 months or so. would highly recommend this brand, but would personally avoid AliExpress due to delivery time, potential customs charge, etc. this model will probably appear on amazon eventually

This is the price it should've launched at. Heat from me

It is also due the Cold War with China . USA, Australia, India and Japan are part of the Quad . So they are diversifying supply chains away from China . There are other countries like Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam , Malaysia which also have territorial disputes with China. Plus government in India wants to help its poor citizens with Make in India Campaign and reduce reliance on Chinese Imports . India cannot ban all imports as it is member of WTO . en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrilateral_Security_Dialogue makeinindia.com

Android one is a big draw for people too

Amazing price :)

They all do now because India imposes a heavy tax on imported phones , so manufactuers are encouraged to produce within india to avoid these taxes
