Their check in staff denied my wife boarding on an India bound flight … Their check in staff denied my wife boarding on an India bound flight from Manchester during Easter last year due to their failure to verify her documents properly.

I always believed that check in staff are Airport staff , even if sometimes they are dressed in crew uniform.
What documents were they trying to verify? Did she not have a visa ? Please elaborate

I'd have to agree, very average. Staff seem to be rushed too.

Id90's if that's what you are referring to aren't necessarily 90% … Id90's if that's what you are referring to aren't necessarily 90% discounted

Yes, id90 is 90% off, but it's standby. id50/special tickets are confirmed but 50% off. That's how it is for emirates anyways.

Try this, better search terms … Try this, better search terms https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brit+killed+by+falling+ice&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=gjCNVtn_IIKMPcqJmTg#q=falling+ice+from+skyIt's always good to be aware of the laws of a country, but the problem with just googling laws or only paying attention to newspaper stories is that common sense can go out of the window because of one or two high profile cases. People end up thinking that all the Dubai government wants to do is throw you in jail, that's the last thing they want as they need the tourist industry.

You've been to Dubai, and you like it, I get that. But people are always going to be sceptical about a an area of the world that has a poor record of human rights abuses.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Dubai
You have to understand, that a lot of people pay attention to reputable websites and media sources. Some also pay attention to less reputable ones. You're just a guy that we don't know, posting on HUKD. So no matter how ridiculous you say some of these posts are, a lot of human rights abuses do take place in Dubai, and that puts people off.

Oman...who on earth wants to go there?!?! No thank you!!!

Are you a complete moron? It is one of the most luxurious destinations in the world. Ive stayed at the Chedi and travelled there 5 or 6 times and there is no where more luxurious.

Not to mention there is a much greater possibility of you getting recruited by ISIS down in Birmingham than Oman. For now, stick to your own backyard rather mate.

I take it you have been there then?

I used to live in Muscat, and Oman is a beautiful country. Amazing beaches and scenery, but I guess you already know that...!

Easyjet fly to Malpensa, wasn't much price difference on dates I looked at.

Lot of dates available. If it was me I would skip staying in Abu Dhabi and go onto Sri Lanka. Extend it by a few days and take the train up to Candy in the mountains, astounding scenery and an incredible trip. See the tea plantations at Nuwara Eliya, see the elephants in the national parks. Hikkaduwa is nice, just down the road from Galle, fascinating city.

Flew with them recently, delayed 1.5 hours out, on return boarded plane and was sat on runway for 2 hours, staff rude and unhelpful....

Not against the deal in any way tho, just sharing for the benefit of others

Bought these open jaw Alitalia flights when they where dirt cheap to Rio … Bought these open jaw Alitalia flights when they where dirt cheap to Rio de Janeiro 3 months ago (£215 return from Bologna). I'm actually currently in Rio... Unfortunately not the best experience. Our flight was cancelled and re-scheduled to the following day, we came back to the airport and they could not check us due to another technical issue and we almost missed the flight again.. and they still could not print my Boarding pass which I had to get in Rome. I would say there is a bit of a risk flying with Alitalia as technically they came across as incompetent Italians , on the other hand maybe we were just unlucky. On the plus side we made it to Rio only 12 hours later and the flight was on a new plane and the food was excellent. Also they checked us into a Mercure Hotel and paid (and organised) for a driver and meals in Bologna.

You might also be able to claim costs if the flight was over 24 hours later than scheduled
For £215 to Rio it's worth a bit of hassle
