I guess it’s technically true but misleading to people who don’t know what they should be checking. I’m sure there are a few reviews of this online and all are pretty bad, mainly due to the brightness, even on max it’s pretty dark. Considering an iPhone 11 pro can get up to 4x brighter than this...

Shinobei

HDR on monitors is the biggest scam out there. they claim again and again that they have HDR but yet rarely get above 400 nits even on the high-end monitors. It's quite shocking

RossC91

The brightness on this is awful at 300 nits. Especially when they are claiming it’s HDR which you really want about 1000 peak nits

This is a TN monitor with, at best, a static contrast ratio of 1000:1 (1mil:1 is pretty misleading) and is not advertised as PWM/flicker-free. Please don't get this monitor, there isn't a single good use case.

2 weeks in and I couldn't be happier!

Carson_Official

Picked it up yesterday. Been using it most of the afternoon today. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed, haven't had to change any of the settings so far. FreeSync was already switched on and Nvidia automatically set the screen to 144hz with GSync Support on. So far very impressed. Added a couple of images from Rainbow Six Siege (on a monitor arm).

Carson_Official

for those concerned with its Freesync capabilities, its younger 27" brother has joined the 'verified' list: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/ Its from the same family just 27" and 1080p so that would say its got a good chance.

Carson_Official

you would be able to make use of the Freesync capabilities but you won't be able to use 144hz on an Xbox. For an xbox, I would find something with Freesync, decent HDR and 4K.

joedb

Would this be good for Xbox one x?

The stand does NOT look like that, no idea why it's always listed like that, the picture is for the 1080p version. All the retailers seem to be using the image for the Z35 not the Z35P, I bought this nearly 2 years ago and still it's the same old story (although confusingly Acer themselves have this listed as the Z35 and NOT the Z35P, go figure?! https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/predator-model/UM.CZ1EE.P01 https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/95441bd12 P.S. It's a pretty good monitor considering the available competition, a few hiccups with the built in speakers once in a while and no image on screen when resuming on occaision - nothing a quick power cycle doesn't solve...

electrolux

Yup, the whole monitor market is pretty crap as far as QC goes. (fierce)

It's not even the true latency anyway. It was a more useful spec when IPS panels had terrible latencies, nowadays it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

trueno2k

Yeah, had my eye on this one for a long while, research would suggest that it is the same or very similar model to the one that is sold on Massdrop but with the electriQ brand name, so it should be a good monitor, but not at that price with a small brand name, especially when I've already seen the Samsung 34" ultrawide model go for less than £200 on B.F. last year, it would just make me feel underwelmed with this monitor.

Scarfield76

What do you think of this? https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/electriq-35-wqhd-100hz-hdr-height-and-tilt-adjustable-curved-gaming-monito-eiq-35cmuwq100gafsh/version.asp

trueno2k

I'll be on the look out for that Samsung ultrawide 1440p 75hz monitor or similar that went for less than £200 last B.F. Hopefully I won't be losing out by too much if a monitor of that caliber doesn't sell for that low however, as long it's close the previous B.F. deal then it's another no brainer purchase, IMO!

Scarfield76

It's the second time I have ordered a 4k monitor then got buyers remorse after doing further research and cancelled last minute. Guess I will just have to wait for a black Friday deal =(

trueno2k

Don't know if this one is same as mine as the suffix is not the same as mine ( "wmiipx" compared to the above model "Abmiipx" ) however, the one on sale is definitely same as mine as it's from eBuyer and I bought mine from eBuyer on eBay, unless they have stocked up on a newer model with the HDR function, then I don't know, you'll have to take a punt to find out for sure. In the menu for mine the feature is shown but it's greyed out for me and so not selectable, which I have no idea how to enable it on mine. A few minutes of research suggests it is the same model, looking from the photo I took here Around £239 ( bought other items together with it so not entirely sure exactly the costs ) with the 10% discount included which would have been around £266 without discount, hence it was a no brainer purchase! As shown below. For a 60Hz 4K @ the price I paid above it's a fantastic VA freesync panel, just would have loved it even more if it could have overclocked to 66-70Hz for that slightly smoother 65fps clock locking in games but as they say you win some and you lose some :p

It's a monitor, as in a screen only, it doesn't have any internal tuners or smarts - it's for external inputs from bluray/streaming/consoles not intended to sit on a desk for word processing.

Does it have 4:4:4 chroma sub sampling?

DemonChilli

It's probably OK if you have a desk with at least 1m depth. Otherwise, on the desk of which I am sitting in front, you have to move your chair quite a bit, left to right, up and down...given that the knee hole gives you that much freedom.

Optimum Tech did a review of it on Youtube, definitely think it's going to be my next ultrawide, currently have the Acer X34P which is great at 120Hz but really want 144Hz.

hd1944

Thanks. That seems a decent monitor with promising specs.

Adexus

If you can I'd wait for the MSI MPG341CQR which is coming out soon I think and the specs look fantastic, 21:9 1440p 144Hz Gsync compatible.

hd1944

I'm using it only for gaming mainly fps/strategy. I wanted a monitor that could do at least 120hz since I'm coming from 144hz monitor. I'm just a bit stuck on which one to go for or if I should wait for the prices to drop on the newer models that support higher hz.

Adexus

I'd get the Acer X34P or the Alienware if you had to get one now, the Z35 has a VA panel and is quite smeary in motion apparently so I'd probably go for the Acer or AW with the IPS panels if you're not using it for movies or anything.
