Anybody recommend a good case for the 10inch version. Thanks.

Cristiano

Im looking for tablets for the kids (ages 3 and 6). Would this or the kids version be better? The kids versions seem to include a subscription but there are quite a few negative reviews on the speed/responsiveness of the tablets. Whereas these tablets although not aimed directly at kids, seems to be a better tablet and cheaper

MarkParrott

Definitely recommend

Oh, well i have only ordered it, not collected it. So I'll see if they mess me around

FleetFanatic

Lucky you, 2 days after I should be able to collect, they've decided to tell me there was a stock issue in the warehouse and they can't fulfill the order. Every time I shop at Curry's, there's an issue!

trumad

This still works. I was able to arrange delivery to my local store for £35 using the code. This is a LOT more responsive than the old Fire tablets. I've gotten two so far, and a third is on the way. My favourite thing to do is not allow them to connect to wifi at all, remove all the ads & bloatware apps, install google play (optionally) and a custom launcher, and it's just like a basic, quick, Android tablet. A great way to siphon money from Bezos.

rustystatic

Is this tablet likely to go cheaper anywhere on BF?

adamguest1985

Discovered these don't have GPS. That's bizarre to me. Just a heads up if that has any bearing on anyone's purchase.

Do Amazon Fire tablets support multiple profiles? I.e. can I have one profile of my own and another set up for an elderly parent?

FleetFanatic

Scrap that... realised I didn't collect them until the 6th. Online customer services tried to offer only a half refund so I took them to store, got them all refunded and am now rebuying them with the same code in the Curry's deal. (lol)

Mail

I don't know if fact, but I recall someone on HOTUk saying that they got their ads removed because they were a frequent Amazon customer. Alternatively, you can use USB debugging through a computer to remove all the ads and have other features - such as installing the Google Play store as well and removing the bloatware that Amazon has put onto the tablet.

G0rdonGekko

Quick look on YouTube seems to say yes. Going to buy the HD 10 with 3GB instead as it's a no brainer at £79.99.

Not had a Fire tablet in a while. How is it with notifications from Google Play apps? Like a normal tablet?

(lol) No, I was actually just browsing the deal and saw your comment. I'm not sad to be following you. (lol)

Followed me all the way here to say that?

I don't mind the ads. They're no big deal at all and can actually be beneficial. Just a note for those who are eligible. Use BlueLightCard to buy Curry's vouchers and you'll save another 6% I believe.

I believe there are ways around this. Xda had a debloating application which removes the Amazon stuff or at least hides it. I've never owned an amazing tablet so once I get mine I'll investigate further

First you need to determine the speeds you'd need and the bonuses you want. How many people will be using WiFi at a time in your house and what are your needs for WiFi? Do you care about tv channels and catchup or not? Then put your postcode and adress into a site like uswitch compare broadband and look at the one that best suits you

professor78

Even if it does, You can pay £10 to get rid of advertisements. Got 4 fire devices in house, but in all honesty its not intrusive enough to be bothered by.

Graham_E

Does anyone know if the Fire HD 8 will have adverts? Thanks

professor78

It's tough gamble, if you can survive without for period of time sure you will get something. Not sure what others ISP's did but of you are after an entire bundle I know Virgin Media did : 500mb Broadband, Maximum channel TV Including Sky Sports and Sky Movies (all HD), 2x4K boxes, Phone line, and Virgin mobile Sim with unlimited Data, calls texts. - No setup fee 18 month contract for £75 month (Considering Sky package alone is about £55+, Unlimited Sim is what £25+ it's was cracking deal)
