Ha Bixby. Why do companies feel the need to inundate us with things we don't need and not make it easy to disable. I loved my S2 and S4 but hated the S9. Perhaps Samsung feel they have to keep changing things when what they had was already good. My last phone was an LG G4 which was my best phone up until getting the P20 pro. I like the menu systems on the LG, even prefer to Huawei which is quite like the Samsung in some ways but without gimmick of edge screen. I found the launcher a bit basic on the Huawei and changed mine to the Microsoft one which I find fits my needs and no adverts.

A lot of people are now jumping off the Samsung bandwagon. Xiaomi are another thorn in their side, and Bixby was a thorn in my side.

Agreed. I went from a s7 edge to a pocophone as I just want a decent phone at a good price, and its blown me away. Yes it's plastic, it doesn't have NFC (not fussed) but for 280 quid it's amazing value. Very fast and the battery lasts me two days. Goodbye Samsung...

Welcome mate, and pleased for you and your freind.

It all depends on which emergency service and where in the country, whilst this may be true in the more rural fire brigades it is certainly not the case for the vast majority of police/ambulance/larger fire call centres

I don't personally, but just return if its no good.

I have this phone. It's a very solid phone. It is light and functional. The only gripe I have is that it's *almost* pure android. I'm not sure how Nokia have managed but they've copied the 'stock' android and got a few things wrong. For example, the frequently used apps section in the app drawer is out of all apps. So it's a list of things that are on my home screen! Still, great phone, affordable price.

Does anyone have any experience with these ex-demo units? I ordered earlier and suddenly realised that maybe the battery will be totally shot if they've had it constantly charging on display.

There is a 10% off code on Maybe someone can try out that code?

They are sending a new P20 to store for me to pick up should be there for Tuesday hopefully. When I looked online some people sent theirs back to Nokia and were on their third repair with the issue continually coming back so it's a decent result for me I guess.

The one I've quoted is still more powerful, but fair enough still. :-) Ps. I thought that libreelec build was for Raspberry Pi only?, or ...

No libreelec/coreelec support, better off with a s905x box for half the price.

Ditto, wouldn't mind to know the answer to that too, lol.

Thanks do you use a paid for IPTV

The remote control it's more likely to come with will be more mars bar/stick like ... But that doesn't therefore stop/prevent you from 'improvising' in any way?. An air mouse (via it's supplied 'adapter'), can easily be used for this, etc, such as the one's to be found here: I chop and change between using an air mouse on my android boxes, and using the actual remote it came supplied with, etc ... Tje choice is literally yours?. :-)

I'm with you on that! I also get suspicious when there's too many permissions being asked, especially the ones that start asking for stuff like Contact information (which pretty much guarantees an immediate uninstall from me.) A really basic app I've got on Google Play that I made in Scratch / MIT App Inventor 2 has suddenly started asking for exactly the same permission as you mentioned... and I've no idea why (it doesn't record or store anything from one session to the next, and it never used to, irk)

Fair enough, seems a little excessive though. I'm just wary of permission granting for no reason. There's a few apps out there that go to the extreme and ask for all possible permissions. Thanks for the reply.

Usually that's just storage access needed, e.g. for caching.

Why does it need access to photo/media/files?

Quite a cool game. Slightly repetitive after 10 levels though

There are a lot more frequencies in use, but other than the base frequencies they aren’t necessarily in use everywhere (some are still very limited, like band 1 on Three for example, is only in a handful of locations). I think this list is reasonably up to date if anyone is interested. Base frequency in bold EE Band 3 - 50MHz Band 7 - 65MHz Band 20 - 5MHz Band 1 - 25 MHz Vodafone Band 20 - 10MHz Band 7 - 20MHz Band 3 - 5MHz Band 1 - 40MHz Band 8 - 5MHz Band 32 - 20MHz (Downlink only) Band 38 - 20MHz (TDD) O2 Band 20 - 10MHz Band 1 - 15MHz Band 3 - 10MHz Band 40 - 40MHz (TDD) Three Band 3 - 15MHz Band 20 - 5MHz Band 1 - 10MHz Band 32 - 20MHz (Downlink only)

Thanks for the clarification, I was going off a mobile phone comparison site that just had 'ticks' by frequencies that worked on each network, so without Band 20 it's even worse than I thought it was, I wouldn't buy a phone without Band 20 either.

You tried but got it wrong there ;) The 2 networks who use Band 20 as their base frequency are o2 and Vodafone, without band 20 you can expect limited 4G/LTE coverage. Three use Band 20 quite extensively for their “Supervoice” coverage which is a secondary layer in urban areas but used quite a bit in rural areas (and also plays a part for in building use), Three use Band 3 as their base layer. EE also use Band 20 for in building and rural, but as their network is so much bigger it isn’t as apparent, again base layer is on Band 3. personally I wouldn’t even pay £50 for a non Band 20 phone, you’re shooting yourself in the foot for UK use.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply, I think I will have to pass on the this deal. Appreciate the help!

Depending what network you're on it varies, no Band 20 just means no LTE in areas only covered by Band 20 on networks that use Band 20, only O2 and 3 (and MVNOs that use their networks like GiffGaff) use Band 20 at the moment so you would have no LTE in a lot of areas, however if you're on EE or Vodafone (or one of the MVNOs on their networks) you'll be ok, but it would be an annoyance if you ever wanted to switch networks in the future, however having had a look it seems the Nokia 5.1 Plus also has no Band 20 too. As for the 2nd question I don't know.

Google drive will work but the best all around Is Dropbox. My phones, tablet and pc are linked to Dropbox. Photos goes to Google drive though and some important documents also get put on both Google drive along with Dropbox. Dropbox is more automated so nothing to do.

So is it easy to transfer all my files to Google drive? And also download it back to my new handset? I like the concept of Google photos as automatically it synchronise both on the phone and my Google account- something like this would be really ideal for all my phone's contents- is this possible?

It's in the Google app store if you need to download it. (y) It has to be in the store so you can download it into another brand of phone you might transfer from.

It is not wise to keep files on phone only. That's asking for troubles. Not wise to use sd cards either.. Justice go to file manger and select stuff and share with Google drive.. You can just leave it there or download back your new phone if you really need it on device but I don't

Surprisingly, I don't have this 'phone clone' on my Huawei p8 lite handset? Do you know any other app that might literally transfer everything? Thanks

If you missed out don't worry because this is the worst thing I've ever used! It's a super simple app that just plays an audio track and that's it. The audio track is an old Australian woman's voice. That's a big problem for me, I hate her icksint. But the main problem is what she is saying, it's essentially the "don't forget you're breathing" technique. Or the "don't forget to blink" or the "have you got an itchy nose" technique. If you don't get what I mean those are phrases school kids say to eachother to make them have an itchy nose or be aware of their breathing to annoy them. You'll be about to fall asleep and she will say "and slowly be more curious about breathing out" or something along those lines. This app made me angry before sleep. It's that bad. The audio track lasts 38 minutes and I heard all of it and must have been awake for another hour after that too. Definitely definitely one to avoid.

Deal must be over. It's showing up as £7.99 now :-(

If your struggling to sleep, try sleeping on the edge of the bed, you’ll soon drop off !!!!!
