To be fair I would have gone with the maintenance option. Ive had a Astra elite 1.4t through jet since sept 2016. I have had nothing but problems with it
Electronic park brake failed the day it got delivered. Intermittent radio problems, where it crackles and when u use the indicators u cant hear the sound the indicator gives off.
Worst of all ESC fault where it goes into limp mode while driving reduce power and reduced steering assist. First time it went in I had to pay out of my own pocket £10 per day for a replacement corsa the dealer put me in. they had it for over a week and couldn't recreate the fault asked me to take it back and monitor it.. this June gone has been faulting so much and randomly loosing power while driving. It was getting dangerous. Took it back to Vauxhall and been there over 3 weeks now. They created a technical case with Vauxhall and they agreed to put me in a hire vehicle at Vauxhalls cost. The test the car daily sometimes faults and sometimes doesn't but Vauxhall seem to be out of there depth with fixing the car I have told the lease company I don't want the car if Vauxhall can't fix it. I am not going to risk mine and my family's safety driving a death trap.. will never have a Vauxhall again.

And this is a really poor deal. You can get it for more than £24/net/mth … And this is a really poor deal. You can get it for more than £24/net/mth cheaper here.

This is a great deal at £4k for a car with most of the bells and whistles. Excess mileage fee is 7.21p making it a great deal to go for the 5k miles initially.

I went for the Elite Nav and just ordered through Jet. It includes the 8" touchscreen (vs 7" touchscreen), coloured display on instrument cluster, shark fin antenna and upgraded steering wheel. Only £6 extra per month.

The free metallics are a bit poor. I thought black looked old, maybe because of the bumper plastic. Don't know. I liked white best but it's a cost option. Chose Cosmic Grey.

Hoping I get this before 1 April where the cost will go up by £20/month after the tax change. I want to sneak in a 17 plate before then!

The points he mentions are nothing to do with maintenance but are warranty issues, all of which can be rectified whether you buy outright, lease via PCH or PCP with or without maintenance.

Total of £16k for a £12.5k car. That's an awful deal, if you have no interest in paying the GMFV there's loads of good lease deals out there.

If you want to own the car then a Sainsburys loan will cost £13.4k including interest, £190 a month over 60 payments, £2k down.

Over the last few years I got the impression any Vauxhall excites you. They have their followers and that can't be ignored and I commend you all for the true patriotism to this fair Isle we live on but the interiors are still 10 years behind most other marques and the Vauxhall Vectra was named as the least satisfying car to own in Britain. I myself wouldn't go near one and if someone offered to give me a lift whilst hitchhiking I would turn my head and refuse to get in even if it was p155ing it down.

So I signed up for the 7 day trial.Using Newsleecher, I decided to try and re-grab an 11GB file set that had errors all over the place and "Article Not Found" errors when I used Astraweb earlier. It was failing RAR checks as well.Well, using Usenetbucker this time, I have a total of 0 errors, or missing articles found!. Everything downloaded flawlessly (and faster actually) maxing my 152MB line. And RAR reported no file errors whatsover. So, it looks like I may be switching to this UsenetBucket afterall, and cancelling Astraweb. Thanks for this info.Oh by the way , if you look in Control Panel of your UseNetBucket account, you will find a 20% off promotion to all new signups!.

Thanks for posting this useful info!

I tested out the trial and must say it was absolutely flawless! no errors, missing or broken files! The 20% promo discount is also there to use. It's weird though, it says only 5GB traffic on the free trial but I managed to go upto 26gb lol after that it wouldn't let me continue downloading.
I still have my astraweb account running, well its paid for till next month anyway so ill use that up and go for a package with usenetbucket. In the meantime I did cancel my subscription on paypal with astraweb just to make sure they don't take any more money out.
Been with them for over 8 years and everytime they still ask for an order number jeez as if I know that by heart, just look up my email add ya numpties! Glad I am finally leaving them.

Looking for Diesel, around 15-17K miles per year
I have the 1.6L well the wife does, I have a older 1.9TD sports hatch, and see nothing wrong with it, get about 37mpg and that's mainly short runs around town, reliability wise its bullet proof IMO. No its not a fast car but its comfortable to drive, its reliable, has enough poke to overtake when needed. We picked up our 2 year old one with 20,000 miles on the clock, sports body kit and 19inch alloys for less than 9K IIRC, really nice car. People simply see Vauxhall and Astra and think poor mans Golf, which I think is unfair. I prefer both the look and especially the inside of Vauxhalls. Just my opinion.

But then again if money was not a major concern why would anyone ever buy a Vauxhall?

personally for 13.5k I'd rather have a brand new fiesta or polo

If it's the Ecotec ZX16XEP engine, at 105BHP then it's more than adequate, it also pulls the heavier Zafira B without any problem at all. Even loaded with all seats occupied. I know this from experience. Though I can see how a lazy or incompetent driver might not know how to use the engine properly and might get the wrong impression.

This engine goes back a long way, and the tech is old so it doesn't have the modern engine low fuel consumption but I can tell from real life use you that around town in summer then 40mpg is easily achieved, and 50mpg on a long motorway run. Again, this is in the heavier Zafira.

The engine is old design, so well developed and reliable, cheap for servicing - even at main dealer. I think Vauxhall need to shift them now because they won't meet Euro VI.

Don't suppose anyone knows whether a OnePlus One phone will sync via Bluetooth to this car?

Interior is well screwed together. Having had a Vx(8 yr old car) for the last 5 years which has sailed through MOTs with no issues for the last 5 years, I have no reasons to worry about reliability. Those comparing it to a Polo need to actually look at the space in a Polo and this car. The difference is significant. The Polo is cramped and not suitable for a family (at least not our family). VW dealers are arrogant wa*k*rs as a rule. VW servicing costs an arm and a leg. As my German friend once said, "only the Brits will pay over the odds for what is essentially a glorified hyped up fɔlksˌvaːɡən".

polo is a spacious car. We have me the wife plus daughter and pushchair in just fine.

Just out of interest, did this actually help anyone? :)The warranty is 3 … Just out of interest, did this actually help anyone? :)The warranty is 3 years (/60,000 miles) from when the car was registered i.e. the standard Vauxhall warranty. Most will have been registered in March, so you have 2 years 9-10 months of warranty when you actually buy the car.

Have either of you tried pairing your phone to the car and make a voice activated call?
All the research I have done infers you can press the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel (hold it down - the one with the phone symbol) and you can then say "Call" and say a name.

However, when I hold this phone button down on the steering wheel, I get "Redial" if I hold it for a short period of time - and a list of my most recent calls if I hold it for a long period of time.

I cannot get the car to even initiate any form of voice command - there is no beep or anything. The manual is for all Astras and not all Astras all the features which doesn't help.

I'm wondering if this car even has this feature - the sales guide says it has a bluetooth enabled mobile phone system though.

I can accept calls via the steering wheel already.
I can't even get a 'contact list' - only the phone numbers I have most recently called, to be displayed.
I have tried on a Nexus 4 (intermittent Bluetooth connection..) and a Moto G 2nd Gen which at least has a stable Bluetooth connection.
Anyone else got any ideas either?

Yes it did! Picking it up on Saturday and can't wait. A 1.6 Astra is … Yes it did! Picking it up on Saturday and can't wait. A 1.6 Astra is perfect for my needs - town commuting plus 2 x 2 hour motorway driving every month. I currently drive a 1.4 in the older model that has never given me an trouble but wanted to jump ship before it starts.I was massively tempted by the fiesta but ultimately, I need the bigger car. Having something faster would have been nice but for this amount of money the car is more than good enough, I only do 7000 miles a year. I was thinking about buying a 2.0 diesel a few years old and that would have cost me almost 9k so it was a no brainer to buy new and get the leather seats. Thanks for the post OP!Does anyone know if they will deliver these btw? My salesman says not but I'm not sure that is true. Is it only new cars that they deliver? I am in Yorkshire.

I don't think they will offer a free delivery service to Yorkshire - but you could probably arrange them to drive it to you, for a fee. I imagine it would be quite a hefty one (They would need to bring your car - and another car to bring the driver back). Go Vauxhall Sevenoaks is generally accomodating.
Probably best to get there yourself unless you want to splash out a lot of cash
