This monitors so hot I'm expecting everyone's gonna try n cool it down. 27" 4k at 144hz with gsync, doesn't get hotter than this

As the owner of an Acer X27 (Acer variant of this monitor), I paid £1750 and it has been worth every penny. A single 2080Ti has been ample to run games at 4K in excess of 100fps. Just depends on the game and how demanding it is. I might be the only one, but I'm voting this hot. It's a fantastic, top of the line panel.

Not at 144hz . Bandwidth required is too much. The next hdmi 2.1? Should be able to

4k is possible yes

Can you even hit these resolutions yet. Even with 2 gpus

Yeah I received an email telling me they where cancelling my order. Gave me £10 credit for my troubles lol

Course not, it had a 1-2 month delivery period and had 100s if not 1000s of orders for them. They aren't gonna lose £100k's if not millions if they can avoid it.

Was it not? LOL

But wasn't honoured (lol)

For the record I only ordered one (y) now enjoy (popcorn)

I don't agree with that though, we aren't talking about the shop next door, we're talking about a major retailer with lots of well thought on they're operations. Do you honestly believe that in every item posted for sale by Amazon isn't controlled by a stock limitation system? They messed up, by allowing so many orders on this particular item. Wanna sell USB cables? Of course with the limitation of item per purchase, a massive buy of cables is avoidable, but we're talking about an item that should have order quantity limitations. If I ordered 5Million USB cables would they get me that?

There was never a chance they fulfilled that. I only ordered one but they would have lost hundreds of thousands had they honoured at that price, no chance of that happening.

Do You think they would have honoured if there was 500 laptops ordereded on sinlge orders, instead of 1000 with multiple? Seriously? XD

I felt bad for missing that one

So OK I am back and got just very first benchmarks, the CPU does powerthrottle, but the clocks stayed at about 2,7ghz using Intel's XTU, so gaming would be a bit better, all testing was on overboost mode(max fan). It's not so bad as a lot of cheap laptops drop clocks hard. GPU stayed mostly on 1380mhz which is 20mhz lower than base clocks using Furmark, but it should still be faster than any 1060 MaxQ card. Temps were super good, did not exceed 73C in half hour testing. The system feels fast with the SSD and screen is gorgeous, it does shift colours on various angles so not the best IPS but that 92% NTCS and 120Hz looks so nice, smooth and vibrant, it is the best budget laptop display I ever saw. I do not like the keyboard being only red backlight lit we could choose at least colours even ifs just 1 zone, but that is just my opinion. Anything else you want to know about it, feel free to ask. Cheers

Please do. (y)

I will be picking up this laptop today! Can add check some benchmarks and see if its not power throttling like the i7 version if anyone wants.

Cool, although kind of glad I got this one because like every other PC gamer I have 300+ games to get through on Steam/GoG/HB/Origin/Uplay/Battlenet/Epic. Best not add anymore to the pile , (lol)

Okay, I didnt notice that, but it still doesn't, for the matter of fact mean that Amazon are in the wrong. The Contract was void.

one last reply, I'm not the guy who spoke to them, I didn't even order one of these laptops, leon is hukd member who ordered and got the confirmation and all I did was ask if he got anywhere....

Its void as it has already broken a contract (:I (:I (:I why are you speaking about this on a forum? Hardly a moron, I can assure you I have a little bit more Legal knowledge than you.. Go get a Solicitor and make sure they are a good one :D , I look forward to learning about the judgement via the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary (y)

whats binding? ffs, a representative of a company confirmed that an order made was correct and that the customer would receive the item at that price, it doesn't matter what little info that rep had as if that were the case, all companies would give their sales reps little info and we would have all kinds of miss information going around... I'm done with speaking to morons like you.

What exactly is binding? It broke their T&Cs in their contract end of, wether Leon said this or said that it broke their contract terms, making the 'deal' void. Customer service agents have little information and just want to please the customer, doesnt make anything binding.

Yes got there in the end :) was looking at the wrong things

Cpu performance hasn't changed much over the past decade. It is unlikely that the cpu utilisation will reach 100% unless you run lots of programs in the background. The GTX 1060 is a lot more powerful than the 1050ti look at the graphs.

The warranty is obviously gone. I’m not advising anyone do this, just sharing my experiences. Also probably worth adding, they had a warranty sticker over one of the 2.5” hdd mounting screws. So if you change the hard drive the warranty is also void.

Won't be good for you warranty swapping over the display

I would agree with Ritchiedrama here, for gaming a 7300HQ with a 1060 ( call this laptop number 1) would perform better than a laptop with a 8300cpu and a 1050ti (call this laptop number 2). Laptop number 2 would be bottlenecked by the 1050ti gpu before the 7300HQ bottlenecked laptop number 1. You want to aim for similar spec parts on a laptop so all parts bottleneck around the same time. Laptop 1= CPU say 75/100, GPU 75/100 Laptop 2= CPU 85/100, GPU 60/100 Therefore you get 60% performance for laptop 2, whereas you get 75% performance for laptop 1. The above is of course for illustrative purposes only.

I have the Asus gl504, 144hz gtx 1060. Great bit of kit

Yup screen is IPS with 100% SRGB. Looks like the price has gone up.

I'm also in the market for a laptop with these specs, please let me know how it performs. I'm just worried about throttling as I have long sessions over the weekends. Also, is the screen ips?

Done my research on that extensively, there is a model from ASUS (503 15 inch) that has over heating issues, the only BSOD issues for this model are originated from 2 person on reddit, 1st guy had SSD driver issues that was fixed by Samsung Evo drivers, second guy tried to down clock CPU but couldn't keep it stable. I have ordered, so I will let you know if there are any

Stay away from this laptop. Even at this price point, sheer number of BSOD issues resulting from poor cooling...this laptop is not fit for purpose.

I mean you could literally buy 2 of these and cross fire them for about £70-80...

As @pcdealhunter stated. You can sell that cooler for £50 on ebay. You get 2 free games, If you've decided to get Division 2 (£35 on cd keys) and just say Devil may cry 5 (£25 on cd keys) then that's a total of £110 you can make. £144.99-£110 = £34.99 for this card... I'm tempted to do this as I want Division 2 anyway.

£60 cpu cooler included though, you could sell that for £50ish then you have a £100 strix 570.

Extra fiver for a RX 580 -

Great deal, But you really need to want the cooler, As you can get a 4gig 580 for extra fiver, But you could sell you cooler giving you a very cheap 570.

The point about price drops remains valid tho as retailers etc clear 1xxx stocks

A decent deal: you might find 6GB 1060 laptops elsewhere for a little cheaper, but probably not with all the premium features on this (120Hz screen, 16GB ram, PCI-e SSD + SSHD). 17 inch laptops are usually a little more expensive too, although I know they're not for everyone. No idea about thermal performance, keyboard, etc but for the spec it seems decent.

Could you point me to a few near this price? Not trying to be a dick, just curious!

GTX 1070 laptops are getting close to this price. If you hold off a month until RTX laptops start hitting shelves the GTX laptops should drop further.

Not a bad price for a GL series with that processor, SSD & Ram spec.

I already have a MAXIMUS VIII HERO but havent built the system for it yet, is it worth picking this up over the Maximus VIII Hero? Assuming I could sell the Maximus for something on ebay. I'm not really sure what the big difference between the two would be beside z170 vs z270? Also weird the Strix doesnt have USB C, but the older Maximus does.

Tbh it's what ever you like for your build

Thank you for your precious time It's a good pick

somerandomguy123 I put this together very quickly, so probably there's space for improving it here and there. Also i haven't picked a case, as that depends on aesthetics too! This would make a good office/general purpose pc that can do some gaming, particularly esports and even bigger title that are few years old.

indeed, its a cheap mobo - but it is an old one that only accepts obsolete (and still hugely overpriced) cpu's. So its really only of use if you already have a 7700k and the mobo dies.

the price is good for gtx 1060(maybe the best) but, 8th gen i5 is a lot faster than 7th and even faster than i7 7700hq the gpu is only 3GB which will be enough only for some games medium/high full hd even though it has enough horsepower for more, not sure if this version is with 120hz screen but would a huge bonus at least for e-sport titles. This is the cheapest gaming asus laptop, all parts are cheap so expect thermal throttle. No SSD and 8GB RAM does not help a lot, which mean you will mostly spend around 100 for an upgrade.

(lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol)

core for core, not much in it, but if it is a 6 core 8th gen vs 4 core 7th, then yes a big difference, would have to check which 8th gen i5 is used.

I would pay the postage, easier to return if any issues.
