Same happened to me when I wanted to buy a wall charger. I thought "oh yes glitch " then I remembered I have £10 promo from yesterday

kingbr

:(

Resseh

Definitely coming out of the £10 credit. I had ordered it for £0 but tried ordering something else and the promotion amount on my account was less than £10. I cancelled the cables and the promotion amount is £10

Dogleg909

£3.11 still not bad for 2 x 3m HDMI 2 cables XD

LJames96

I've done the same offer however mine comes up with Gift Certificates as well as promotion applied. Fair enough though, it might actually be my actual balance being used before the promotional credit

I completed the online form, stated the competitors price as £399 and put the voucher code in the additional info box as you state. It's pot luck I think as RGB have a drop down for 5 year additional insurance at extra cost. Try again with a different email address.

How have you guys managed to get John Lewis to price match this? I have tried them with this twice now and they are rejecting it. I am adding the voucher code to the additional information section. Any advice appreciated.

Chasloyal

No it ain't that: I just rang Nottingham fishing for that FLASH200 code to get applied to Q8F and they weren't having none of it, the geezer said they still got loads of curved Q8's in warehouse stock but the flat Q8's are as good as gone with only a few individual shops having the odd one or two. Perhaps these might drop even further than this current 1300 quid ticket, if they got that many they're still stuck with it would seem rather likely.

Barboro37

@belvaz - where did you see it for that price? It's showing as 2199 on Richer Sounds.

danhey83

Well said.

Chasloyal

As @Aretak has already said be it Sony, Panasonic, Philips or whoever if the telly is OLED Lucky Goldstar manufactured the panel. As for 'competitively priced' I've been shouted down by the 'workers united' brigade on here and firmly told not everyone can afford bigger brand televisions when questioning the wisdom of buying 600 quid Hisense sets on here so they would firmly inform you 1300 quid televisions are the domain of self entitled millionaires (skeptical)

Aretak

Not in the TV realm though. All OLED TVs use panels manufactured by LG Display. Samsung are the biggest producer of OLED panels there is, but have to pretend that they don't believe in the technology when it comes to TVs because LG's patents stop them making them for their TVs. It's silly. All very subjective stuff. People say that OLED's brightness isn't great, yet they get brighter than all but the very, very best LED-lit TVs from the past couple of years (at least when not displaying a full field white test pattern). If you own a mid-range or slightly older LCD TV, it almost certainly doesn't come close to OLED's peak brightness. Yet people point at light cannons like the XE93 as if they're the standard for LCD TVs, and they're just not. As for "smashes OLED massively in the HDR fight"... just nonsense really. HDR isn't only about peak brightness and specular highlights. Contrast plays a massive role in effective HDR, and OLEDs smash massively any LCD TV ever made in that comparison. Some of the most effective uses of HDR are for contrast between very bright objects in very dark surroundings, and no technology does that better than OLED, with the deepest blacks and no backlight blooming. The best TV for HDR changes from scene to scene, let alone between different content. And QLED is an overpriced joke, frankly. The Sony LCDs from the XE93 upwards provide a far, far better HDR experience, with much better local dimming and higher peak brightness in real scenes, rather than test patterns. The QLEDs have extremely unimpressive measured peak brightness on anything except test patterns. The very best QLED from 2017, the Q9F, measures just 690 nits in a real scene, despite hitting over 1400 nits on a test pattern. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/qled-q9f-q9#comparison_1675 That's only 20 nits more than the B7 OLED manages in the same test. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/b7-b7a-oled#comparison_1675 The XE93 manages 1442 nits in the same real scene test, incidentally. I guess QLED's great if you sit around watching test patterns all day though. None of this is to say that you should absolutely buy an OLED, incidentally. There are plenty of other valid concerns about the technology, including screen burn. But at least buy a TV that's actually going to deliver what you want, if massive brightness is what you crave above all else. Because there's nothing funnier than hearing QLED owners ramble on about how bright their TV is and how they chose it over an OLED because OLED's so dim, when in fact there's a gnat's fart between them in actual content.

I called sky to day to cancel my order fur the £57 deal. They dropped the price to £45. I took it. Guess they gave me the extra Sky Q mini box for free saving £12 a month.

Dodger21

The £40 deal is the engineer deal, I could have taken, they get cards with a special a code to hand out to friends and family. I took an option to get the standard "Q" set up (engineer fitted a hybrid LNB if you don't get one of these you con not get free view if you give up Sky Q as you have to give the box back), the standard entertainment pack has Euro sport and Discovery plus excellent catch up facilities for £10 a month, 18 month contract and £20 install as a new customer. I had been left over a year.

Mentos

Not everyone has access to FTTP/FTTC. Moreover in many residential properties it is not trivial to deploy a network which delivers reliable wifi content, particularly to deliver jitter sensitive services utilising considerable bandwidth. As such for many customers the transition to Sky Q was certainly a retrograde step. NB: No i'm not one of those customers, I have fibre broadband and the time/ability/opportunity to deploy a network which delivers decent coverage but many other buyers of my home would have struggled.

On paper that Wharfedale is OK but it's shockingly poor in reality, just booms and not a lot else. I got one after my 10" Paradigm died after 15+ years solid service as it looked to be very similar, luckily I got it through Amazon so could send it back easily. I ended up going for the BK P12 which is a 300w 12" sub and it is amazing, my whole system sounds so much better. May be a bit big for you but I'm sure the 10" Gemini at around £200 should give you a decent upgrade. They only sell direct which is how they can keep the prices so low for the quality you get. Best place to buy is from their ebay outlet where they sell supposed seconds though mine was perfect and I've never heard of anyone who had one that wasn't... https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=colosussxb Check out the subwoofer forum on the av-forums for more info, BK are the only subs that get ever recommended in the sensible side price bracket.

Pricklerickle

i got told the warfedale 150 , I think there said anything over 10 or 8 inch drive, just can't have it too loud, i am a nice neighbour, so look into sub then onto more than 5.1

b1g1an

Spend your money on a decent sub, will make much more of a difference. Look at the BK range for the best subs below £500.

Istanbul_Kop

For anyone thinking of Atmos with this...do it. One of the best things I ever did. What's more surprising is the fake atmos modes that up convert lower range sources. Sounds stunning.

Istanbul_Kop

Hmm, interesting debate about the up scaling. I've always let my TV do it as I thought that would handle much better. Is that not always the case? I have a Samsung KS8000 and this receiver. I remember trying it once on my older Yamaha, it wasnt as good as my ES8000. In fact, it seemed like it couldn't handle it properly at all.

Under DSR I returned this unit to Humax. Compared with Freesat📡, Freeview has limited access to such as Curzon Home Cinema, Amazon Prime etc., channel availability (200 vs 70 approx.) and apps in general. Freeview does have more HD channels.

Humax Direct raised their refurb price for these and other units (as is their right) unannounced this week. In addition, BASKET10 discount, no longer works.

topazz

You've got the most recent update. Almost sent mine back when i bought one four months ago. Seemed so laggy and clunky compared to the previous Sky HD+ box plus the tv guide would occasionally freeze requiring a reboot. Lag is still there but otherwise the other bugs have disappeared and now it does all i want and then some. Very easy to network. Bought a cheap 2nd hand Humax H3 Espresso media player off ebay. IMO defo don't pay full price as the H3 doesn't have much functionality. But i now stream recordings from the main Humax box to the H3 located in another room. I have also transferred tv recordings from the Humax to my PC for offline viewing (Youtube it if interested). Overall i'm happy with the box and recommend it if you can live with the lag.

louiselouise

You've got me wondering if I have the update - there's been no change in the responsiveness or speed since I first got it about a year ago :( Edit: Just had a peek, my Software Build Date is 12 Jan 2018.
