Flown with them 4 times. I have ONLY ever selected them based on price as the service is TERRIBLE (and usually when the price difference is over £80 as I'd rather spend the extra without having the hassle.) Customer services non existent. They'll change tickets as they see fit. Website used to be terribly UNSTABLE charging but not issuing tickets. Doha has to be one of the most boring transit airports ever and you're usually there for several hours. If you get tickets to Indonesia at £289 take them... The next best price I've ever had is £400 with Garuda (direct though!)

Oh, by the way where did you fly from and to in an old aircraft, or are you just here to make mischief? Not long haul as you state.

Don't think there was any need for that rude comment

I had better experience with Thomson flying to the Med, simply sharing my experience. It seems there are more positives than negatives, also seems they've upgraded aircraft since as this was a few years ago. Personally due to the experience I had I would still choose a different airline where possible. As stated, I flew from Qatar to U.K. which is classed as long haul.

Why don't you trust Omega? I've booked flights with them before and not had any problems
I do travel to Doha quite frequently because my girlfriend lives there so I know that flights from the UK to Qatar are not cheap. You could get cheaper flights with Oman Air or Gulf Air but you need to change at least once. And Pegasus have a worse reputation than Ryanair and they're often late or their flights get cancelled so I'd not use them.
I get it that it's a good price for a business class flight and you can collect a huge amount of Avios and tier points but you still need to get to Doha somehow.

Maybe we could start posting deals on flights from Dallas to Johannesburg or Vladivostok to Shangai.

Do to travel issues in Burma (part of the charm), i would not recommend it if you are on a short time scale. It all depends on what you are after tbh...

I love the Philippines, but I would stay away from Manila - it's a great city, but you need to know the city or know someone who knows it to find out all the hidden spots... If do go, let me know and i will tell you where to go..

If you were doing island hopping / city holiday (based upon flight costs), i would do something like:

Hong Kong for a 3 nights, maybe pop over to Macau too...
Fly to Manila and then connect to Boracay for 3 or 4 nights (it has far too many tourists, but a lot of my friends still love it).
From Boracay, i would fly to Cebu and travel down to Oslob and go swimming with whale sharks 2 nights (only 2 nights to relax from travelling too).
Travel by boat to Bohol and spend 3 nights - could also go to siquijor on the way for a couple of nights...
From Bohol travel to Manila to fly home from or even back to Hong Kong for a night.

That's not a bad route... this one is easy enough to do, not too expensive, not too long on a bus etc... All depends how adventurous you are...
Thanks.
I'm tempted to try 2 countries in a 2 week holiday later this year and you've just put this on the itinerary.

What was great about Burma

I loved the feeling i got in Burma, you could tell things are starting to change, but things were still Asian. I am lucky and have travelled to over 100 countries including most of South-East Asia, never had this feeling before. They have cars with steering wheel on the right hand side, but drove on the left (cars from Japan, but driving the same side as the europeans) - highly dangerous.

With my domestic flights they just cancel or change the times when they wanted, i woke up at 2am - checked my emails as you do and i found out at 1am they emailed to say my flight had changed from 4pm to 6am. When i got the flight it must have been some big shot as lots of staff lined up to take photo's with him... One of my boarding passes was made from cardboard!

Beer is cheap, weather is good... Not been to the beach yet...

Loved the mix of indian in the culture...

Just lots of things, i could not put my finger on it.... 100% will go back.
What was great about Burma if you don't mind me asking?

Good price, but the connection times on the way back are not great from what i have found and as this will most likely be booked into T/O or W booking class then you will only earn 40 qpoints - If you are a Qatar Frequent Flyer like myself (so not worth me taking the deal).

BTW same price in December (limited dates) with good flying times

On the way back you can get a 15 hour lay-over, which is a little short to enjoy Doha (about £16 for the visa) as you land at nearly midnight and the airport hotel is expensive. If you could get a short connection on the way back and a long connection on the way to Doha, it would be far more enjoyable (due to the landing time in Doha). If you have not visited Doha, it's nice for a short break if you get a long connection - done it many times.

For the price, you cannot really go wrong - so voting hot, normally if i do this route i might fly from Europe as it's cheaper, but this price is good from the UK even with the connection times.

I've never been to Thailand, but a tip I've read about going there is to … I've never been to Thailand, but a tip I've read about going there is to be prepared for an almost inevitable stomach bug (apparently people from Asia get the exact same problem when they visit Europe). The advice is to get the name & address of a good medical clinic in advance, so that when you catch it you can go in and pick up some antibiotics, which will cure the bug in a couple of days - better than spending two weeks filling the hotel toilet. Raspeberry cordial is recommended too.

Never happened to me, but then again, I ate the local food only and avoided anything bearing a resemblance to Western food.

Just paid £380 for return trip to New York direct via Delta. When I looked on the site they had flights that leave about every hour but some go via Paris or Amsterdam with various waiting times at these airports, with cheaper fares, but when you go through the booking process the actual fare only comes to about £10 less than the direct fare because you have extra airport charges to pay for either Paris or Amsterdam. So it's worth checking this out before committing to fly indirect.

Scratch that. It's China Airline that has the bad safety record..

I decided not to fly with China Airline due to their poor past record. But to be fair this incidents happened awhile ago.

~£350 for return flights, during peak season, is an absolute steal; the … ~£350 for return flights, during peak season, is an absolute steal; the stop overs are reasonable too - IIRC both journeys incur a 1~2 hour stop over each way.The reviews are mixed but we're all here to grab a bargain - just grin a bare it for 18-19 hours and think of the paradise that awaits in Thailand. If you want to make less of a compromise I think the Qatar flights for ~£430 are also a great deal. The Air China flights are not just to Bangkok, they're to most of the main hubs in SE Asia. We looked at getting flights to Manila for the same price throughout Jan.

Each to their own, I'd prefer to go direct with Thai and pay more. Less time wasted travelling is more time in Thailand

I thought the correct terminology was "love you long time" as in a lady … I thought the correct terminology was "love you long time" as in a lady of the night offering to show you a good time over a prolonged period. I am not familiar with the precise derivation, but believe it is in common use in many Asian countries including Thailand.

Indeed, maybe just a narcissistic outburst from ssc1 rather than a racial comment. Or a plea to the sometimes cold HUKD community.
