I plan to go to newcastle again this summer and wander around the city centre shopping area.I have never been to leeds. I hear people say newcastle is really nice, but i have never heard people say the same thing about leeds. They just say it is busy

Iv lived in Yorkshire, near Leeds, for about five years and had never heard good things in particular about the area but knew there were jobs.

However, when getting here I was amazed at all it has to offer. Yep Leeds is busy but has every shop you could want. The outskirts however are lovely and easy to get to - the countryside, parks such as Temple Newsam and Roundhay, stately homes such as Lotherton Hall and Harewood House.

Don’t let the lack of overall enthusiasm put you off giving it a go

I drive from Teesside so I usually go travel A1 then I park for free not far from Newcastle Central train station. I then avoid the really busy traffic plus I know of people who have gone into bus lanes by mistake and had hefty fine. There was a lot moaning about it other year that Newcastle Council had gained loads of money in fines.

I prefer getting a Go North East bus to Newcastle from here however I wish they ran them later, last bus back about 8pm.

Travelers, gypsy type people, or there are also quite a few from people who get one and have no idea what they're doing, but harm them through ignorance. This is also incidentally where the majority of abused horses come from.

Where ever there are people using animals in a role of utility, destitution is never far away.
Just to let you all know that the Chinese are slaughtering hundreds of thousands of donkeys just for their skins for a special gelatine ,its a total holocaust for donkeys ,not making this up , check it out ,make up your own mind , it is totally shocking and disgusting ,they are treated like vermin and many skinned alive ! Many poor countries have sold to China but now some countries have had the balls to stand up against them ,Donkeys have served mankind well but in return they get total abuse and now possible extermination, cherish these they may be the last on this planet !

I joined on the same deal in May. Absolute bargain. They usually have a number of places at £10.99, then the price will go up to £14.99 nearer the opening time. The only thing I would say is that make sure the site is quite near you - it's harder to make the effort to go when it's a long drive. It's not a bargain if you only go once a month.

Having said that, our Gym is clean, staff are friendly, and the equipment is excellent. The induction was a waste of time tbh, but there is a mountain of free info online - try bodybuilding.com or nerdfitness.

Last year some of the places offering this had posters or those chalk boards outside to let everyone know.. i hope they all do this.. this year.. at least then any homeless or people in need might see it and use it.. otherwise its pretty hard to reach these people who need it most.. i drive round town (manchester) on christmas day with my kids after we have done the presents and hand out stuff we have collected over the year (old clothes, blankets & buy sandwiches, drinks) my kids enjoy it and it defo teaches them a valuable lesson.. bless my 6 year old girl for the past 3 years has offered to give afew of her new toys away.. which melts my heart but useless to those on the street so those goto our local charity instead..

We actually do see quite afew people on christmas day doing the same, wether they are charities or just regular people.. i dont know but its lovely to see!

Santorini certainly isn't about nightclubs (maybe that was aimed at Mykonos?) - I stayed in Perissa where this is aimed at and while there are bars, the promenade was predominantly restaurants and cafes, with the beach and sun loungers directly opposite. It is also a much cheaper part of the island (some parts are fairly overpriced).

Perissa is a great location to hire a quad from (roads are generally quieter down south, plus a great way to explore the bottom half of the island for around €30 a day), then you just get the bus up to Fira (capital), plus another bus up to Oia (tourist trap / where all the sunset photos come from).

Can highly recommend the Panorama restaurant in the southern part of the island - meal for two overlooking the sunset is more like €40 rather than €100 as you get in Fira and Oia - good destination on the quad bike.

Overall this seems like a stellar deal for the week in Perissa alone. Voted hot.

Any recommendations on which area to stay in Crete? Not looking to hire a car... somewhere peaceful, good sandy beach nearby but also a town/village with some tavernas/restaurants within walking distance. Good bus connections for day trips would be nice too. Don't want any sort of lively nightlife as have kids.

Kalyves is a quiet resort we stayed there in June. Most of the tavernas are on the beaches front so you can eat whilst kids play in sand. Also lovely beaches a couple miles west of chania which have very shallow bays and calm water.
