Betamax was superior to VHS. Panasonic just had better marketing
I have these. To repeat what everyone else has said they are good. Don't swim in them but nice to have peace of mind with the waterproofness when running in the rain! The ambient sound mode is a nice feature, mostly run on trails but switch this on when on single track roads...i wouldn't rely on it to stop u getting hit by a speeding car but u can hear when someone's behind u waiting to pass which is reassuring! For those who dont like to read the manual (ahem...me originally) note it has 3 ambient noise loudness settings so this can be tailored. I have about 10 albumwraps on there so is easier to pick different music without skipping loads of tracks
I have these, they are great. Bit of trial and error choosing the right size earbuds (they give you 4 different sizes I think) for the pool, but fine once you crack it. Makes swimming a lot more fun and got me through the Swimathon last year!

It's been a while but as far as I remember I would not say it is worth upgrading if your old one works fine. On the old one I had problems with connection sometimes (the pins in the charger sometimes didnt connect properly), this one seems better in that regard. Battery life is slightly better on this, but still not that great. Sound qualitywise they are comparable, but as I have not had a direct comparison between the two. Cant remember if the old one does, but this also has ambient play function, that allows you to hear more of the surrounding - it's sometimes useful, but I never leave it on because wind is annoying - and it's always windy in Scotland.Having said that, this is a great price and if your old one is approaching end of its life, by all means go for it. But quite frankly other than the design there is not much to separate the two. Thanks

Cheers. Yeah old one works fine. Found it poor for swimming with water getting in but now at a gym that doesn't have a pool so no huge loss. Will stick with old ones for now.
Ohh, there's now a 16GB version with bluetooth (pricey though!):
amazon.co.uk/Son…4P/

Hope that comes down in price some day.

Wonder if it'll work via bluetooth with a waterproof smart watch while swimming (or perhaps the water will break the connection).

I had some hope, so I scrolled through every County and still couldn't find it. Jumped on chat and he explained that they are aware of the missing county's but don't have an ETA for a fix. Asked if they could do orders via phone and after a bit of a long pause (may have checked with someone on his end) he said the 9 Lite deal is online only, so wouldn't be able to. Heat added anyway as it's a decent deal for anyone able to get one!

Both are really good BUT one problem with Sony to many reviews online about people saying the headband cracking even after Sony reportedly fixed the issue with better materials. I've compared the two quite a lot in terms of material and design the bose are better especially when it comes to folding mechanism. Also any issues with Sony it tends to be back to base and good luck with their customer services.

If I prefer the sound of one thing to the next (expert or not), I'm perfectly entitled to that opinion. At no point have I said any other headphone was terrible or berated anyone from choosing differently from myself.

If you disagree with my opinion, that is perfectly acceptable, when delivered in a suitable manner.

Going to the point of stating my opinion is wrong, is not only rude, but highlights a complete intolerance towards someone else's beliefs.

I'm sure if I didn't like the taste of cottage cheese and you did, you'd not be so quick to tell me I was wrong. (Although based on your replies thus far, I'm not 100% sure).

The world is made up of many different folk, each with their own taste and quirks. I'm glad you enjoy your Sony headphones and truly I hope they continue to deliver that level of enjoyment for many years to come. At the same time I shall enjoy the Bose headphones, which suit my taste and ears perfectly.
