Great phones, but as stated you can get an excellent refurbed twin or trio set for this price on eBay.
These type of blocker phones are good as stated.
However -
You must subscribe to a Caller Display service from your network provider to block nuisance calls. Charges may apply.
I don't think many buyers realize this and hence there are loads on ebay "refurb"
Don't know about the deal, but these phones are excellent, never had a nuisance call since getting mine.

Great idea! I'm out of work and would love to set one up as a small business (coffee shop etc.) The only problem for me is that I don't live near one which has enough footfall. Would like one in London, but apparently you need one close by in order to qualify?

Thanks for your honesty. I've taken it back.

I hope your joking about taking it back. You got a good deal on a perfectly good home phone. At the end of the day how much do you really need a home phone to do. This phone will do a perfect job of making and receiving calls and blocking most of those unwanted calls. Don't listen to 1 or 2 people who always try to put any deal down.

BTW the phone has a Do not disturb option with a timer setting, so that would work for the night time calls, yes?
Original Poster
yes, I believe you still get a single ring, whether it's blocked, being filtered, or just a plain single ring. seems a bit odd you are only getting a single ring from marketing bot. Any that rang me previously went the whole 5 or 6 rings.
Many thanks Meggie_Dude for the prompt response...much appreciated
At the moment we're getting a single ring at 5.30am!! Been happening for about 5 days now, no caller id, assume an oversea automated marketing bot?
Sounds like i'd still get a single ring with this phone and/or i'd need to pay for virgins Anonymous Caller Rejection function then?:/

In a nutshell my family love these phones. They have not stopped valid callers from contacting us but have stopped ALL spam and cold callers.

It won't block withheld numbers by default, but it will direct them to announce who they are before giving you the opportunity to accept them. Therefore it's best that anyone in your circle of important contacts has Caller ID not withheld. This is what we had to do for our 80+ year old in-laws, so they didn't get the call filtering. You can tweak the settings to do many things when it comes to blocking, but only those numbers you set to block will not make it through by default. For all others the phone will ring once ( so you know someone is calling you), they will have to announce themselves and you can either choose to answer or ignore. if you ignore they will go to answermachine. Most cold calling companies or spam callers just end the call so there has been nothing from them on my answermachine. Obviously if callers are on the "good" list the phone just rings as normal.
I'm not sure with Caller ID on Virgin. I 'think' they charge, but I am on TalkTalk which is free.

Try accessing the bt shop homepage and entering thecode BV9SXJ00 into the search box. I'm using a desktop so I'm not sure if it works on iphones and the like.Afraid I'm no expert and the glitch was pointed out to me by a friend. I don't know how it works but know it only works using Google Chrome. Good luck!

Hi OP. Many thanks for your reply. Your suggestion worked a treat and I have made my purchase. I'm really grateful you posted the tip. :-) Heat already added for the deal yesterday.
dilahk

rubbish phones mine packed in after 18 months .

Reasonably sure that the 8600 model range wasn't available until qrt4 2015 and if so presumably you purchased a very early pre-prototype version. Probably find a collector would pay a reasonable sum for an early prototype regardless of functional condition.
Yep clearing my cookies and using the code BV9SXJ00 did the trick for me (even in Firefox)..

Went for the duo pack @ £49.99 so was just another £15 for the second handset. (the Trio was an extra £20 again @ £69.99).

The fact the answerphone beeps when it has a message is a plus for me - it is a feature that Panasonic never seem to include.

Cheers op.

What settings did you change?

My issue with the 3 is that i sometimes can't connect a device, while other devices are OK. Looks almost like there is a limit to the number of connected devices, but afaik there shouldn't be a limit.

I was just going to order a new hh5 but sounds like i should think again.

sorry to hijack this thread...

thats very true as well. and to be honest, bt's biggest problem is the home hub 5, I managed to blag a credit out of them to purchase my own modem by renewing my contract and since then have had a reliable service.
