You can get loratadine at most cheapy shops for a pound or less for 30 tablets (I've had them for £0.79 before)... Not a deal to me when you add the postage on.

Still up, thanks. Can't find them anywhere else this cheap with free delivery

jamie015

I'm doing okay with Ceterizine now, but if I do need different ones in the future I'll look into Grazax. Thanks for the heads up (y)

mattcass

This Grazax thing has been somewhat of a saviour. It’s prescription and essentially grass pollen in tablet form. I take it everyday so that my body gets used to it over the whole year so when the season comes it doesn’t go bat sh*t crazy with histamine. If you suffer really badly def look in to it. I had to go and see an immunologist at my local hospital to get tested etc

jamie015

Yeah, it's annoying, at least there are many to choose from if one doesn't work! Today I ran out of tablets which I usually get on prescription - instead of this deal (or getting a free prescription) I had to pay £3 for a pack of Piriteze on Etefy (annoyed)

mattcass

It just sucks that there is not one thing that just works. I gave up with both and actually take something called Grazax daily - have done for about 2.5 years now.

Didn't mean to make you feel bad for sharing... Just shared my thoughts as well. I was once told that fillers in the tablets may interfere with the active ingredient and so maybe that was responsible for its lack of efficacy with you. Could all just be heresay (I don't work for a pharmaceutical company and cba to research it) but thought I'd mention so you didn' feel your experience was being belittled in any way (highfive)

qbs

I've been on cetirizine for years for hayfever, perennial rhinitis etc, and in that time, had more brands than I can remember. I've always put down worsening symptoms to external, unidentifiable circumstances rather than a change of brand. Is it possible you've experienced the same? You've also got to be vigilant for counterfeit drugs.

I went cold turkey! I would never touch them again though. Would rather have the worst hay-fever for the whole summer than the side effects of these.

tommymcelroy

Did you stay off them or have to go back on them? The itching is absolutely horrible.

jazzman466

I never read the leaflets that come with medicines but after the experience with zyrtec /cetirizine, I would never ever take anything again without reading the patient info leaflet thoroughly. It doesn't really mention about any withdrawal effects but there are a lot of reports from people who have taken it long term.

bigmike2028

Thanks for the info i never thought to look at the side effects,i have taken them everyday for years and suffer badly with dry mouth and insomnia.Time for a change i think.

jazzman466

PAULTRD

You keep telling yourself that ;-)

Gormond

Ehh no I work 50-60 hours a week... If you go to the doctors with hayfever or other allergies and he gives you a repeat prescription for pills then yes you are entitled to it... Completely different than claiming you are sick when you are not. It's no different than getting any other repeat prescription from the doctor.

PAULTRD

Entitled to it! I assume you are also on the sick

Gormond

By getting something you are entitled to? Maybe everyone should go private for everything and then the NHS would be much better off.

I've had severe hayfever all my life, nothing has been as effective as Benadryl plus, it's expensive, yes (around £5.50 for 12 tablets, can take up to 3 tablets a day) but it completely deminishes my hayfever, not even a sniff of it. Only downside is that you're not advised to drink alcohol whilst taking them.

quantum77

are you going to have a micro array test to find which foods you are sensitive to?

Donna2009

Hey, just wanted to add. I went to an immunologist recently and just want to share. Apparently Fexofenadine only lasts up to 18 hours and are strictly 1 a day. (I was taking this for food allergy but it didn't touch my hayfever symptoms at all.) Therefore there are 6 hours where it doesn't work. Cetrizine lasts up to 36 hours so overall more effective. My Immunologist consultant has tried to refer me for desensitization. (Fingers crossed for that) He mentioned it is safe enough to take 2 Cetirizine tablets a day to ease the hayfever symptoms. hope that helps.

Utter tosh. Check the price in boots and also number of tablets included!

adrianjowitt

nonsense. Generic certrizine can be picked up for 99 p just about anywhere. Benadryl plus is six quid (I know I buy it) but that is a patented drug with no current generic substitute due to the fact it contains acrivastine and the license hasn't expired. On your second note - generic hayfever tablets like these are over the counter that don't even need to be sold in a store with a pharmacist present so would require zero monitoring via the prescription process. Certain classes refuse to pay for anything as they are morally devoid and has nothing to do with their doctor monitoring them.

HelenMirren

These are around £6 in Superdrug, so it's disingenuous to say they are always £1. Also, doctors prefer to track medication if your getting ongoing treatment

adrianjowitt

It disgusts me people would ask for a prescription for a quid of tablets. I guess it allows them an extra can of white lightning

antomac1001

This is a good price. I recently bought a year's supply (12 x 30) of the same generic pills from online company 'Pharmacy First' and it cost me nearly 15 quid (inc P&P). heat OP
