Thanks for posting. Your thread has made it to our Highlights pages (highfive)
Chess.com ratings tend to be higher than official FIDE ratings - keep plugging away and you'll get better with more play. Chess books are key as you progress however, since you're still starting out, I suggest you ditch trying to play many different openings and just settle on two for when you play white and two for when you play black. You'll greatly simplify your play and give yourself a better platform to improve (I feel) A few books I found greatly helpful (though when I was long past beginner): From Beginner to Expert in 40 Lessons - Aleksander Kostyev https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beginner-Expert-40-Lessons/dp/0020117604 Winning Chess Tactics - Yasser Seirawan https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Chess-Tactics-Yasser-Seirawan-ebook/dp/B006MD58Z6/ How Not to Play Chess - Eugene A. Znosko-Borovsky https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Not-Play-Chess-Dover-ebook/dp/B00A3IR4J4/ And grab pretty much any beginner-type book from Bruce Pandolfini

Excellent fodder for the fascinating hobby of building out your steam library with games you'll never play - thanks OP!
Darn. I have no idea if this is actually random or not, but I did sign up and used the site for the very first time so can't help but wonder if it's designed to hook me in. (Unless you're a first timer too which would suggest it's just luck). Had a quick scan online and the mystery box thing is pretty divisive. I don't like gambling but I thought for under £3 and knowing about all the games on this deal, I wasn't going to feel ripped off either way.
I got Sorcery! Part 4 and Pumped BMX Pro (annoyed) Go figure.
Yes, you did.

What most puzzling to me is that the opening page of the book is fairly well written and structured but the next page is near gibberish
Based on the sample of Chapter 2 I'd caution against this book because of a lot of what was written is hard to follow and doesn't really make much sense. Could use (MUCH) more editing time. The first paragraph of chapter 2 reads like gibberish that's gone through Google Translate without anyone editing it. Also has bizarre names for standard chess openings like the British Beginning - I presume this was a mistranslation of the English Opening? And I've got no idea what the 2 Knights Security opening is supposed to be.... Edit: Figured it out now - it's supposed to be the Two Knights Defence. The author also introduces Zugzwang as a basic term in the opening glossary - that's an advanced chess term usually introduced much later. Beginners are about as likely to end up in a Zugzwang position as they are to win the national championship
Remember. Always let the Wookie win.

Good game (y) real chess players would be laughing at us Haha watch the show, it's really good!
You win! Good game :D I don't play either and I haven't watched it yet! haha
Haha yeah, any more exchanges and we'll get board. I think I'll resign for now (excited) I don't actually play chess, never have. I only know these words from the Queens Gambit on Netflix - really good drama lol
Think we should just pawn this job off onto somebody else? I did have a good hard rook around for you though (that's pushing it a bit XD ) Edit: oh look, comment above! Crown him king of deal finding ;). Wonder if you can still pay by check? (Running out of puns...)
https://www.jaqueslondon.co.uk/collections/chess-sets/products/chess-set-with-board-inc-draughts-pieces Jaques have both cheap and very expensive sets. They made the pieces for the Fischer Spassky match too. You could pick those up to go with a Geoffrey Parker board to get the full experience! Or just go with their £15 chess and checkers board above...
