Had a look with Kindle Unlimited first. It looks like it's copy and pasted from 10 different books based on the diagrams. Some of them I even recognize from a book I bought!

Yeah, lichess is excellent. Probably one of the best and it's free too. What's not to like.

Can vouch for lichess: has regular tournaments, online puzzles or even the occasional blitz. Best of all, is free.

I just got this game. I intalled it, went ot play it and was asked for an activation key. I never received one. Went to Ubisoft to enquire about it but you cant contact them because the live chat is not available at the moment and the option to send an email for my enquiry is just greyed out. Oh well.

One of my defining memories from my childhood is being taught to play chess by an elderly neighbour, who clearly had enormous patience. Sadly, my skill levels haven't improved much over the years, but I'll always remember that sense of challenge and little victories.

While playing chess, I've learnt that the CEO of Image and Form, Brjann, is an incredibly good chess player.

Yeah it's got tutorials: From their marketing - Step-by-step tutorials that teach you basic, intermediate, and advanced chess techniques. I've played it a fair bit and the engine is quite good. My biggest complaint with the previous version is that you could replay entire games move by move if you follow the exact same sequence - the AI wouldn't deviate at all. The game has a number of chess puzzles (mate in 2, 3, 4, and so on) and by and large they're decent apart from a few less-well designed ones (I hate those which add an unnecessary extra step where another piece comes in to block mate just by standing in the way). The UI for the game is gorgeous but can also suffer from lack of clarity because digital chess is much harder to see then physical pieces. I very much preferred the 2D option from the previous version but it wasn't present in this game. It's possible to play correspondence-style chess with set time limits (my favourite way to play online chess since I lack the time to devote to single games unless I've set the day aside for a tournament).

If anyone wants to play chess online for free, the most popular site at the moment is Lichess.

Yea, you need to install a reader on your device if you don't have a Kindle. It can be any device, android, windows pc etc. Just click on the "read on any device" icon in Amazon then choose your device, enter your email address/phone no. and follow the instructions.
