Our local store had the same a few weeks back, in a section of the freezer marked 'Reduced', plus some other decent deals on frozen veg. Skewers weren't bad at the price. Sadly, the initial items seemed to be it - nothing was restocked, and the reduced items now finished.

A friend has pointed out to me that it's a vegetarian chorizo because it doesn't eat meat.

Isn't the English language wonderful.

It's to do with the processing - they are classified as carcinogenic (cancer causing) by the World Health Organisation alongside other processed red meats. Everyone has to assess for themselves what risks they are happy with but it's worth reading around and then deciding for yourself.

I am totally aware of the risks it's the same for ALL processed meats including bacon and cured ham. Nitrate is used in the curing process and increases the risk of colon cancer in people who consume regular large amounts. People over 50 and obese people are at an increased risk. Mediterranean countries consume lots of cured meats and have a above average life expectancy because they eat a healthy balanced with lots of fruit, veg and fish. 10g in a lunchbox is going to do no harm whatsoever. Your bacon sandwich is more dangerous.

Got some today, and the straight ones that are normall £1.99 are down to 99p. They're a 'mild tasting pork salami' and a smoked chorizo style one. Also got one of these ones, too. The straight chorizo one is better than the other one which is dusted white. More flavour. I might go back and stock up.
Ive used this a few times, its lovely!!
if your unsure about keeping it in fridge (not that it will last long enough to go off LOL), just chop it up and freeze it- its great for whatever you would use it for from fridgr (pizza, omelettes etc), its better for me kept in freezer- I just keep munching it otherwise

Heat added, if I knew how to!
