I think one of the main reasons is that 2 weeks ago, you could've got a 7 seater BMW over 2 years for less than £5k with 8k pa. 10k pa worked out at £5.1k. I know we haven't got a time machine...

I guess the high initial rental and only 12 months may put some people off. Plus the usual dissing of the manufacturer and type of car, I suppose.

Volvo had a go at one in 2012 the Volvo V60 D6 Plug-in hybrid diesel. "But Volvo has set its sights higher than producing a welly-wearing eco-special. The new model is a high-priced range-topper that pairs its rear axle-mounted 69bhp electric motor with the butch 212bhp 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel engine already established in the range."

You should have got a dashboard with no warning lights, schoolboy error there and you had 5 goes at it too!

I haven't looked to see what else is available at present but 7 seater lease deals are not usually very good, when I have looked, so I'll give some heat as looks fairly decent (and I have the previous shape of this car with a different engine). Here's my rough calculations across the different terms, which I think are correct:

smmcandrew

I’d bite at an average of £200 per month.

Rickardo

Torque an issue, but it is turbocharged and has these stats, so not so bad for what it is: Performance 0 to 62 mph 11.2 secs Engine Power 131 BHP @ 5500 RPM Engine Torque 230 Nm @ 1750 RPM Top Speed 124 mph Fuel Consumption Combined 54.3 mpg Extra Urban 61.4 mpg Urban 46.3 mpg

LovelyJubbly

A years depreciation on this car would be far more than £3K so that makes this a very good deal.

This deal is more or less no existent anymore, spent 4 hours at Evans Halshaw Banbury, the offer is still on the website but what they came up with was astonishing. Initially said they could only get hold of the lower but only the higher spec variant. Then Quoted 29k. When we said that was far off the mark with what we saw on the website they started offering a new one for almost 20k A lot better but still not near the price that we were willing to pay (and imagine we wouldn't be bothered about the price!!!) ... In the end they finally admitted that there were still 2 models with the lower level spec in the country for under 16k. Nicely enough already with (more expensive) metal colours but still deliver mileage at 19 pre reg. Took one of these 2 in the end. The space in the car is astonishing but I was even more impressed with the Berlingo for space! If anyone looks for 5 or even 7 seater car with abundance of space, the Berlingo should be considered... And I am saying that despite still driving my 3rd Sharan...

BungalowBill

As did I, and haven't had to spend a penny other than tyres and servicing - three faultless MOT's. I don't think any car is immune, sadly everyone's experience is going to differ for so many variables.

scanner

Has anyone bought this car from here? i am thinking of buying this. Can I buy it without finance?

matt3454

Oh didnt even realise most of those were even a thing. Saying that the car I had before my cactus didnt have a single driver aid on it and I still survived! Guess they are all nice to have but not really crucial.

fishmaster

It doesn't have adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and GPS speed limit control. You can get those on Ford cars and the Focus has just about all of those as standard, even the Fiesta has many of them. I don't have a Ford myself but in comparison this has the most basic driver aids, they would have been great spec 10 years ago but things have moved on. Once you've used adaptive cruise control you won't want to go back. Ford have brought all these to market, and started doing so 5+ years ago, and added more driver aids as the tech became available, so latest Fords have most of what you require.

matt3454

What kind of driving aids are you on about? This has all the standard ones, abs, traction control, stability control, cruise control and speed limiter. Also and option for auto parking.

DildoBagginz

You can get GAP independently for £100 over 3 years on a car of this price point through the likes of GAPdirect, but I usually go through the dealers to help the salesman penetration rates. £200 difference over 2 years; I can live with it!

mrunderhill2

What "gap" did the gap insurance cover / need to cover in these circumstances? After 3 years I wouldn't expect much of a difference in the value of the car vs. amount owing on PCP. I would expect it to be less than the £300 gap insurance.

WeeWifie

With the c1 that was written off... It was my first car and my dad wouldn't even let sales man discuss gap insurance with me. I wouldve taken it. Dad saying waste of cash and it's all a con. And me being a new driver.... Him driving 30 years. Trusted him! I should not have. The other driver wrote my c1 off, JUST before the 3 year mark. I'd just had it's first MOT a few days prior. So when bought the Nissan note new. First thing I said was "no hard sell here for the gap insurance. I'll have that!". Sales man chuckled saying "someone's been burned in the past!". And then I wrote that car off myself... Just after it hit the 3 year mark. (fierce)

WeeWifie

I wrote a car off driving into the back of a friend's car too.... At 20mph. A Nissan note 14 plate car. So much much larger than a c1. The car had only just turned 3 years old. You don't sound like you understand how things work with writing cars off?

National Vehicle Solutions and Select. But as ever deals come and go. When a car is cheap a number of sites will have it.

George_Davies

What websites did you find the golf r's? thats a good price!

smellyonion

This is becoming less and less the case and quite frankly false. You would lose a near identical amount of money if not more because the middle man needs to make their money! Most chronic leasers compare their deals to rrp. News flash- nobody pays RRP. You should gain at least gain a 20-30% discount on an RRP. The more cars depreciate, the greater the discount. Do you calculations and you will realise that your lease is funding the lease companies. Your 45k GLC which could probably be had for 37k after haggling their deposit contribution (yes pay off the days after to avoid interest). Its worth maybe 27k after 3 years. You will pay 15k, and think you saved depreciation. The direct to manufacturer will pay 10k. Lease company makes 5k. Yes in some cases, lease companies have better purchasing power and can gain a better price. But it is mostly a fallacy to consider lease the god send of new car ownership.

mkara

Thanks. Yes, always do shop around and have a tenancy to just browse shop here and there to keep up to date with pricing and offers. Currently got a Tiguan R Line 9k/annum for 3 years for £299+£20 (maintained) total 319.** a month and put 3 months advance. Best deal I find and haven't seen anyone even come close to that since then. When is usually the best time to order a lease? I'm new to this, and also flexible in terms of when I place my order. So any tips are helpful. Thanks.

lhurren

Sorry, missed this. It’s just a case of keeping track of prices and what cars have offers on each quarter when you’re ready to make a new order. None of those cars were from the same lease company. They were from National Vehicle Solutions, VW Direct, CentralUKVehicleLeasing, Select Leasing, Stable leasing... Have a look at the offers on those sites home pages and if a car you like is very cheap shop around and find the absolute cheapest offer there is on it (y)
