I couldn't get on with it on my Xbox X despite being a Civ veteran - it just seemed a bit clumsy using a controller somehow and I didn't like the extra button pushing for menus etc - I'm too used to playing it on my laptop. I prefer say Xcom 2 on the Xbox mind so its not a controller thing! Good if you haven't got a PC/laptop capable of playing it on Steam etc though.
Arrived today and pleased to report it is the game card version not code in a box.
There is for the PAL one but I'm not sure about the US version.
Yes but it could be a code in a box, so size and weight of the case would still apply. I've taken a punt, fingers crossed it's the cartridge version that comes through!
One review said it was a download code, while other Amazon users commented that it is a cartridge version in the Q&A bit. Amazon are known to merge reviews so it's possible the reviewer who got a download code recieved the item from another marketplace seller and not Amazon US, or there was a mix up with the order. Who knows. I've taken a punt (even though it's crept up to £11.11 now) so will see what arrives; if it's not a cartridge I'll look to get a refund.
Ordered. Not my kinda thing but my daughter is obsessed with Ancient Rome and Egypt at the moment so maybe she will enjoy it
I was waiting for the complete edition too but, like a Civ game, it’s taking really loooong
No - Only the dlc bundle, but the base game is also on discount in Microsoft UK store here: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sid-meiers-civilization-vi-xbox-uk-store-digital-version-3743317?utm_source=mappshare&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=3743317&utm_campaign=2021-06-12
Great deal and an all time low on Xbox. However, be aware a complete edition of Civ VI will be releasing on console later this year with all DLC.
Nope. I did try it but just couldnt get on with it on console compared to my laptop. And I actually prefer say Xcom 2 on the Xbox too.
Thank you for posting and well done on your first hotukdeals thread (highfive)
They can poke off with that as well! It's bad enough that they're using a repeat as their headline title, but dishing out the premium sounding one then try upselling another DLC for it? Don't think I'll be renewing my humble choice in a hurry!
Ah, excellent. I've just in the past hour or so had a response to my ticket explaining that they were giving the same discount from the base price as they were in USD and was going to try to argue it out with them. Good to see that I won't have to!
£8.25 now, the email said get it for $10 it looks like they fixed the conversion. hopefully people who already got it can get the difference refunded.
Deserves betters heat. Combined with the current humble bundle civ 6 offer you can pick up everything currently on offer for £21.73 is a good deal
Civ v is great but you won't find cheaper than this with all dlc right now thanks to humble.
It is my first civ, I have looked online briefly and some say civ v is the best for beginners. They mention AoE, but I have never played that. I believe it is an oldish game too from the 90's...
Playing against the computer or other players, think of it like chess. You move your army's on the world grid and choose research etc.. then click move end. Then the computer or other player moves.
Ive looked online, but I don't get how it is turn based. I have played Sierra games, caeser 3, mount Olympus, from the 90's, where you just build a city and take it from there. What does it mean by turn based? What if your just playing against the computer?
Totally different game tactically, a game of civ can last hours unlike skylines which is more a single player experience.
Thank you, I have just received an email offering the repeat which is great value given the games received for the last six months!
I also had this and cancelled recently as I wouldn't pay full as I don't feel it's worth it. I've just been offered the same deal again by email to re-join for another 6 months so you might too.
Finally got my overview and giveaway up on YouTube; I'm giving away Civ 6 and two of the other games from this month as I already had them. If I weren't reviewing it I'd have paused, there's basically 5 games I like in there but nothing I'd go out of my way for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WQjgmJ-c6Y
Yup, they have offered that to me both times the past 2 months I have cancelled, also many ones previous to this but the past 2 consecutive. Shame how bad humble has become. I have paused more often than not this year.
I was thinking the same, if you haven't already this seems better: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/june-humble-choice-civilization-vi-platinum-edition-and-more-ps1199-at-humble-choice-3736380
Hmm, at the moment I am comparing the mods on the Steam Workshop and Nexus mods. There are a lot more mods on steam compared to Nexus mods, but im not sure if I should do the platnium upgrade (£16.79 with voucher) on Epic Games or buy the platnium edition on steam (£45.73). EDIT: Just realised that the voucher doesn't work with add-ons :(
Not quite as streamlined as the Steam Workshop, but you can get all of the mods on Nexus. https://www.nexusmods.com/civilisationvi/
£4.99 on Epic with £10 voucher, plus has been free on there before.
