I can't get too excited at any price tbh. Poor Alexa integration, flimsy bracket and potential substandard night vision mean the system is a non starter for me. If all you want is a web browser then a Chromebook is fine. I had one for 2 years but after a while, it just drove me nuts because of the things it couldn't do.

Did you have to iron out the problems yourself or was it some sort of …Did you have to iron out the problems yourself or was it some sort of automatic updates, I only ask as I'm not very technical and wouldn't want to fix the issues myself.

Did all the tweaks myself. There are loads of guides online particularly on the techtablets.com message boards, but ultimately there's not that much to do. You just need to change a few Windows settings. If you can follow basic instructions whether online or through a YouTube video, it's pretty straightforward. Would be a 2min doddle for anyone who knows how to enable/disable stuff in Windows. I

In a nutshell, it's basically:
- disabling the MeiMengMeng.Win.Clients service (or deleting if you're paranoid)
- enabling Windows Updates in Windows 10 Settings
- disabling or deleting the trackpad blocker (not strictly necessary as it doesn't do anything anyway)

None of that is any harder than uninstalling the bloatware that comes on Acers, Dells, HPs etc.

In my case, I additionally installed an SSD, re-seated the WiFi antennae, and removed the magnets from the top of the lid. I did alot of BIOS settings experimentation as well eg. 10W power increase, but none of it is strictly necessary for normal folk.

Trackpad surface only feels rough initially. After several weeks of use, it seems to smooth down after you've been regularly rubbing your fingers across it!

Massive scale as well.EZB3 always has been arround £170. Stop making up figures. As for usage, it's all good now. Ironed everything out. Superb machine for less than £200. Only gripe is that for my heavy usage, I'd prefer a more powerful CPU. For casual users it will be fine though.

Those corporates avoiding tax is not good I agree but it's not tax …Those corporates avoiding tax is not good I agree but it's not tax evasion, this is. The issue with the touchpad is a well known problem and has been discussed at length on Hotukdeals too. In fact, look what a certain Pickard123 said about the touchpad back in September,"Trackpad pointer movement is okay but the sensitivity for two finger scroll and lower trackpad buttons is very poor. No way of adjusting the trackpad scrolling speed either or setting up scrolling zones on the left/right edge of the trackpad. Trackpad surface is a rough texture which I dislike. You wouldn't really want to use the trackpad for long periods anyway as your hand rests on the bottom edge of the laptop which is bevelled and therefore uncomfortable. I decided to use a mouse instead. "https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/31906363You weren't too happy about many aspects of this device, so what's changed since Picard? I trust you're using the same model? It was a bit disingenuous of you to state that I must be using an old model when you had similar problems when you bought the same model. Regards the price, I'll say it again, the normal price is about £194. Plus taxes, delivery charges, the cost of complying with EU safety standards and cost of providing a two year EU warranty I'd say the price creeps up to near £300 RRP.And please don't try and make out this tax evasion is not an issue, the practice is endemic and must be costing fortune, not forgetting that it creates an unfair playing field, making it harder for genuine companies to compete.

The effect is still the same - the UK taxpayer is deprived of £billions in revenue due to tax scamming by those rich corporates. It's on a massive scale as well that dwarfs anything involving this laptop.

EZB3 Pro always has been around £170. Stop making up figures.

As for usage, it's all good now. Ironed everything out. Superb machine for less than £200. Only gripe is that for my heavy usage, I'd prefer a more powerful CPU. For casual users it will be fine though.

Well my idea is to test it here and then go for a 2TB account. That's what I use. I think that's good value at £34. (Though I paid only £21!) It works well if you use it manually. IMO it gets too complicated if you download their backup application. I wouldn't want anything more from Google, I have an email with them and an android phone. I'm probably leaking too much information to them anyway
10GB seems pointless when same provider currently offers lifetime freebie 100GB here home.zoolz.co.uk/100…me/ , or does the provider offer additional benefits with the lesser option?
cannibalwombat17 m ago

Was 100GB the other day, which I snapped up. You snooze you lose!

It still is - I initially moaned that you didn't share it, then did a search and found someone else had, and it still works. Just signed up for 100Gb free. Dunno if I'll use it given the privacy concerns with Zoolz, but whatever.

zoolz always appear on here - it's not a traditional cloud service though but more of a cloud-based backup service.

i tried them and tried backing up my music but it incorrectly filled up the space and told me i had to buy more if i wanted to continue the backup so i just deleted the account

Well guys I've been using this now for over a month & I'm very happy with the performance. It's a really lovely little NAS Drive actually.
Yes, it is an old device tbh. The CPU & RAM was upgraded in the Gen2 which made it a better unit. I'm not going vote but with certain codes you can get the Gen2 for the same price and they do come up now and then.

Why this deal is on mobile section? "Dy"
I got one last year from Amazon for £209 which was good at the time because it has 2 X WD Red 3TB drives in, and they were £100 each back then. I only use it to stream media to Kodi (NFS) and it does the job.
It's still a good deal because the drives are still worth a high percentage of the total price.

X)Microsoft has regularly come under scrutiny by privacy advocates. Microsoft is known to scan its users' files, sometimes with disastrous results. In 2011, a German photographer had his Microsoft accounts restricted because Microsoft deemed some of his professional work "questionable." Another user had his accounts closed even though the content he had stored was in a private folder, accessible only to him.I'm happy with a combination of Mega and Google (I got 1Tb via Google maps local guides). Although Google doesn't have built in encryption they are not known to actively scan user data and it is very easy to provide your own encryption with 7-Zip or Boxcryptor.

It's the owners of the service I don't trust with it changing hands and where that data might end up or it just disappearing. Hello, only my 2p but...

You could argue recertified means the infant mortality / latent defects of the drive have most likely been removed. Even new drives have latent defects from the manufacturing process which can escape to the consumer. What good is a 2yr warranty on a new drive when you lose data... you'll get a new drive, but you'll still lose your data potentially!

You just have to be practical with actual back-ups. The benefit of the MyCloud drives are that you can attach a second USB drive to the back to make a mirrored snapshot/backup ("safepoint"©) of the content. This is arguably better than RAID1 because it's a snapshot, rather than a live mirror so any corruptions / viruses etc that you get on RAID will be mirrored across instantly.

You can then take this mirrored USB and stick it away in your fire-proof safe in your second home... in case of a fire destroying your 2/4 bay RAID NAS of course!

So tempted but same you, a refurb drive to use as a back up.
They give 2 year warranty on New units so they can't give much more than 6 months on refurbs otherwise no one would buy New.

Very rare these days I need to call up a warranty for anything.

it's not "today only", this offer has been running for months

It stated 'today only' on the link that I followed and I have not seen it here previously plus I did not find whilst performing a search.
