Not everyone needs a Ferrari for Grocery shopping. And not everyone has a parking to park one either.

If they were proud of the write speed they'd just say what it was. If I was buying a kettle I'd want to know if it took 30 minutes to boil. The *only* good Sandisk Ultra product is their SSD, otherwise just skip it.

I think start of this year.

I ended up buying this to use it and got it for £99 after mastercard £10off Amazon promo, £49 once Sony pays out the £50 cashbac Very happy with it so far. Will be using at my brother's wedding with a few different lenses

anewman

Buying to use it, or sell it? Godox looks far better speced to me, and Godox provides a more complete system. For example look at the AD600 Pro. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/Sony_HVL-F20M_External_Flash_vs_Godox_TT350S_Mini_Thinklite_TTL_Flash_for_Sony_Cameras/BHitems/925703-REG_1341879-REG

robodan918

So that's more expensive than the Sony model and lower spec? And it has a lower resale value too?

anewman

Sorry typo TT350S. Note that it appears to only be sold by third party sellers, not Amazon themselves. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=tt350s&i=electronics&s=relevancerank&qid=1562148827&ref=sr_st_relevancerank Review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65kga8d8Ulc

Open the flap, then gently prise the two halves apart with something like a 50p coin. That should do the trick.

Not for everyone, but a great price for a large compact flash card, ideal for professional dslr cameras.
hibby7062

Thanks op !

I still have and still use my old canon Pro 1 which uses compact flash cards, but i went a different route with a cf to sdhc convertor card. It was my first serious camera and still the one i am most comfortable with. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro®-Compact-Flash-Adapter-Generation/dp/B00KXXFNC4 there are cheaper choices but that was mine and i am happy with it and yes i have a more modern dslr eos 550d and the canon eos m, even a canon powershot i edc. yep canon %hore through and through, my s7 takes decent video and pictures but a real camera is better IMHO, to each his own.

matj16

No. Granted cheaper cards are available but the performence of cheaper cards is not sufficient for high end filming/photography etc. Fair comment though.

bhav56

Like I said, not for everyone. And actually many pro new pro cameras such as canon 5d mkiv use these in tandem with an SD card

Picard123

Good quality fast card (unlike the Sandisk Ultras).

Amazon Add on item. Otherwise delivery £3.99 per order. Nothing to flashy about this except the price. Was £6.99 Kingston 4GB CF card.
Kulaak

I stand to be corrected. I'd not looked into them in such depth.

kennethsross

No, Cfast cannot be used in a CF card slot. Not only is the connector physically different, but CF is pata and Cfast is sata.

Kulaak

My explanation has clearly caused some confusion. I do mean CFast cards. Yes, they are different things in their technology but can still be used in any CF card slot. AKA if you own a camera utilizing a CF memory slot you can boost it's speed with one of these, that is if the camera can benefit from the technology.

kennethsross

5d Mk iv / 7d Mk ii ? Seriously?

kennethsross

Kulaak, professional photographers use what their cameras require, in the speed rating most suitable to their purposes. You speak of CF Fast cards. Do you mean 'CFast' cards, or do you simply mean fast CF cards? They are two completely different things. CF cards are still very much in use, alongside SD-XC, in many of the cameras pros use on a day to day basis. Examples include the EOS 5D (including the latest MkIV), the 5Dsr, and the 7D MkII, beloved by many wedding videographers. I just watched my daughter's wedding video last night for the first time. Shot in Full HD, using two EOS 7d. Outstanding - broadcast quality. So let's just be clear. Pros are still using CF cards.

If you have an Amiga computer, you can use these as an internal hard drive. Niche use, but great if you're into that retro stuff.

Kulaak

They do the job we want them for. Why pay (a lot) more? Also some older cameras won't benefit at all from a faster more modern cf-card.

TheWorthinger

These are old! I had one about 8 years ago - still kicking about somewhere. Can't think why anyone would buy 16 of them.

You can get them at Amazon for same price as add on item if you have something you need from there. Didn't look into postage but I noticed I could buy between about 8 &16 for £10.50 postage

Not sure, I expect only a little (based on your card speed). Can't remember where, but I read that the loss Vs lossless compression made no noticeable difference. For what I do speed is very important (for editing/storage etc) so if people who looked harder than I would said they saw no difference then that was good enough for me.

brilly

yeah just thought that looking at your table, does the lossless compressed give any speed penalty? loseless 14bit is only 50% more space than lossy 12bit which seems a bargain! dont think there is a difference just looking at the images but when you pull shadows/highlights etc?

goodgrr

The D4 and D4s are very similar so this table is probably a good guide. http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/2014/06/05/nef-file-types-and-sizes-what-effect-do-bit-depth-and-compression-have-on-raw-files/

goodgrr

Thinking more about it, that's probably the uncompressed 14 bit file size. I read an article where there was no noticeable difference between 12/14 bit so only use that.

brilly

dunno, its what the file size is shown as for the dpreview test scene on d4s! guess a user would know better though ;)

blacksky200

The shape is the norm for Compact Flash cards (still used by some DSLRs), as they are relatively big.

quite sure! still have one around, it's not the same shape as such but takes same cards.

I bought a Pound land one last year, it was micro SD and SD only. It also wiped the contents of my card, wasn't exactly pleased.

Strange that, I needed one so looked at both Poundland and 99p stores near me (London) but could not find any. I have previously seen the smaller card readers that only take in SD cards. Are you sure they were the same ones?
