These things are great for all kinds of homemade food seasoning. Here's my favourite for a Sunday roast chicken (courtesy of cookinginrussia on youtube): - 1 t Peppercorns, mixed (black, white, green, pink) 1 t Tarragon, dried 1 t Thyme, dried 1 t Garlic powder 1 t Dark Brown Sugar (I use Muscovado) 1/2 t Chervil, dried 1/2 t Paprika 2 t Salt 1 Bay Leaf 1/2 Knorr brand Chicken Stock cube Grind those spices in this machine then mix into a bowl with 25ml lemon juice and 25ml olive oil. Use this to baste the chicken.

Gormond

I have a very similar Cookworks grinder and it isn't very good - You can't grind enough spices at once and you need to rest the motor between use.

urbanbushwacker

Herbs grinder? the police will find this in my pocket very easily! (cheeky)

J1135

This isn't a grinder.... It has a blade! Just a very small food processor. Please. Don't put coffee in this lol

No. And coffee should be kept well away.

Thanks Sam for your informative comment. BTW what do you use for your tea?

toiletseatlicker

Cookworks basic white kettles and toasters are around £6 in Asda and Wilkos. As above they used to be £4.99 each. I personally don't need a £30 colour coded kettle to match the kitchen tiles so these cheap kettles are absolutely fine and last a few years.

Plastic kettle. Cold . Cookworks quality is poor . Enjoy the plastic taste in your tea.

Picard123

Just tried out this specific model having bought it yesterday. Works perfectly fine - no burning or sticking or coating fallen off at all. Just make sure when cleaning the inner pan, you don't scrub it or use an abrasive cleaning pad. Just soak in warm water first, then with a small amount of washing up liquid, and clean off the remaining starchy grains with a sponge.

Picard123

Quality is fine. Non stick coating doesnt wear of after one month at all. I've had mine for years.

omendata

Waste of time they all fail eventually. Best idea is microwave and a ceramic tapered bowl = perfect rice unburnt every time. I have got it down to an art now with my Thai curries and coconut rice! No need to spend £15 when you can do it better and tastier with yer microwave! This deal comes up at least once a month - same old questions, same old , same old!

sam_of_london

Very poor quality. Cold .Non stick coating Paint wears off in one month making it difficult to clean.

mutley1

Black is pretty ugly. I got a white one a couple of years ago and works great. They overcook the rice at the bottom slightly but i stir the rice at the bottom up when the button jumps to warm, then continue to leave it cooking on warm for about 5 more minutes before serving. Yum yum

The ones in the developed world do. If you lived in a remote mountain village where there was no electricity, then of course, you wouldn't be using an electric rice cooker, but there are very few places like that nowadays. In Pakistan, alot of places are more remote and without electricity so they've developed a practice of cooking with an iron pot.

Picard123

You also don't seem to appreciate that with Pakistani cooking, they throw in lots of spices, curry powders and oil in the pot for the rice to absorb. Chinese/Japanese don't cook that way - they use an electric rice cooker to cook plain white rice only. If you put all those Pakistani spices, oils, curry powders, tomatoes etc into an electric rice cooker, you would destroy it in no time, stain and damage the coating etc. That's why the Pakistinis tend to stick to the iron pots.

RainbowKiss

Not ALL Chinese use rice cookers. What did I just say in my last post? I know so many Chinese that don't use rice cookers. No bog off idiot!

Picard123

That's like setting some logs on fire and putting a pan top of because you don't want to use a gas/electric cooker.... They don't use a pan and water for the simple reason that an electric rice cooker is alot faster and more convenient. It's 2018, not 1918!

RainbowKiss

Chinese could still use a pan and water.... I know so many that do. So stop your insinuations!

Unfortunately, I had to return too many of these. The longest one of these lasted for us was a week. Ended up buying my wife the ninja coffee bar. She loves it. If these cheap ones were reliable, they'd be brilliant. Unfortunately, too many have issues. Sometimes paying extra is worthwhile, I'm not saying go out and pay 80 quid for one, but upping your budget might bag you something more worthwhile. We've also had a pod machine, they're a real waste of money. Over priced kit with massively overpriced pods

JMac_D

The kettle wouldnt be good for emptying due to the angle of the body. Cookwork items that are food related wont be accepted back unless there is a fault. Its argos's own brand and had an issue with a kettle i bought. It was slow to switch off but as it had been used they say no.

This looks really cool and killer price (just spent 27 quid on much reduced the delonghi kettle deal). Just hope it lasts... my kettles always seem to pack up 1 week & 2 days after the warranty expires!

Furryface

They seem to be out of stock now - but in case they come up again.... I got one for £15.99 - total bargain. I already have a Breville Fast Slow Pro that I bought for over £!50 18 months ago. This cooks just as well. It is missing a lot of features, but for simple saute and pressure cooking it does just fine. Downsides: * the timer is manual, doesn't ring (despite saying it does), and doesn't include time to get to pressure (so you have to mentally add that to the cooking times for any recipes you find online). This 'time to get to pressure' will be different for each recipe, so when cooking a recipe for the first time, it is best to watch over and time it until the red button comes up (ie pressure reached), then adjust the timer dial to the recipe's stated cooking time. Add this extra time to your recipe so it is a no-brainer next time. It does turn off the cooker when done, and allows the pressure to drop gradually. This means that if you are cooking something that needs a fast release, you will need to set a reminder (e.g. on your phone) to remind you to go and release pressure manually. * the recipe book that comes with it is awful - just looks like a mishmash of recipes that copied from online - some are not even for an electric pressure cooker. Not a major problem, there are millions of Instant Pot recipes that work just fine if you add on the time to get to pressure to the cooking time. These problems are not much of a bother to me, but might be for someone new to pressure cooking.

Whilst looking for something else I came across this on eBay and it was £15.99 again(cheeky) so I’ve got one. Thanks op!

aiz3n

Must be a case of bad luck, I reserved it in two stores and picked it up for my sisters (nerd)

smallandsweet

Ordered this twice and both times were a “ghost” order. (Money charged to credit card but email doesn’t come through and not there when you go to store.) ebay price now £39.99 - I offered them £16.99 and explained why asking for price match. Declined :(

CTR70s

If, like me you're attracted by the price, but no local stores have the item available and delivery is an extra £4 which makes the deal taste a little bitter. Have a look at the 3 year instant replacement warranty, I usually add this to my electrical purchases anyway. It's about £6.20. This is counted as a separate purchase and because you're then purchasing two items delivery on the cooker becomes free. Or look at it another way, pay delivery at full price and get your 3yr protection for about £2.20. Hope someone finds this helpful.

I have had one of these for over six months, I drink mainly tea but sometimes like a cup of fresh black coffee and I am not keen on the tassimo type machines, as they are expensive to run and find the end result overly processed when it should be simple and fresh. For me this works fine, my only criticism is that the coffee is not overly hot, so it needs nuking in the microwave. It cost me £12 which is fine... For the the person that says the coffee is too weak, not so, in fact I had my first ever migraine after drinking an overly strong cup made in the machine... LOL

I use this machine at work and whilst it does what it's supposed to, the plastic is flimsy and it feels like its going to fall apart in use. Pouring from the jug into the water hopper usually results in spillages as the spout on the jug isn't very big. Unless its only for occasional use i'd probably spend a bit more money and get something better - I have a Russell Hobbs machine at home which is spot on, was about £30 on sale.
