Very reliable brand - my Cookworks still strong after 10 years
i have this its very noisy and takes ages to boil
Is it a 'noisy boiler'? My current one is a drama queen
It's 2kw not rapid boil (3kw) but still a good buy for the price. Heat added
I'm not surprised this kettle went hot, it's been on a couple of days now..................... good value.

Have the older 6.5ltr one and still going strong. Great for slowcooking all sorts & good family size. Bargain for that price and size!.
Slow cookers can be turned into sous vide for very little. wire up a temperature based switch (~£5 on ebay) to a plug adapter and the thick ceramic pot will keep a fairly consistent, precise temp.
You can cook all sorts in these.

Cookworks RC-8A 1.5L Rice Cooker - White £12.49 @ Argos
i've just been reading various publications on natural arsenic levels in rice, quite unnerving how this isn't more widely publicised, think i'll stick to the recommended methods of cooking
Mine gets used twice a week and still going strong 4 years in.

Always hand wash the bowl and never use metal spoons etc.

It does switch to warm, but that can still keep cooking as it's pretty hot, so keep an eye on it and it's fine, just switch off at the mains when you're nearly ready to serve up.
Very poor quality. Paint peels inside. No non stick.

I bought one of these in 2008 and it lasted quite a few years so when it finally broke I bought the same again which looked the same in the argos picture but they had changed the design and boiling water spills everywhere when pouring. It didn't last long either so earlier this year when it stopped working I paid an extra £10 and bought the 3kw Breville Kettle at £19.99 which has been great so far and looks nicer on the counter. I couldn't recommend this product and on the argos website it has some pretty scathing reviews. Haven't voted.

I have one of these and have used it for years and although not lightening quick, it's perfectly acceptable when away on holiday. It is smaller than you might think though and the "mugs" it comes with are very small. it is also fairly quiet to use so I don't tend to wake my old woman up when I want and early coffee. It packs away quite tidily for travelling and I can stuff the flex inside the kettle.

Pour two cupfuls of boiling water onto rice, quick stir. Put onto lowest gas for 10 minutes & walla done. What ever measure you use it's one of rice & two of boiling water & 10 minutes simmer.

Swings & roundabouts.

Rice Cooker method ;

use supplied measure cup to desired qty of rice (I normally rinse in a sieve under a cold tap)

fill with cold water up to line on cooker

switch on

10 mins or so, walla, done.

Biggest benefit I find is whilst entertaining, 10 mins and rice is done, but still piping hot 20 mins later if you have, ahem, larger guests who want a second portion

Edited by: "andynicol" 6th Oct 2015
I've had one of these for a few years now and use it a lot. Cooking rice in a saucepan can be hit and miss, but this is foolproof. Measure in the rice, measure in the water (comes with cup), switch on and let it do the work. It weighs how much rice/water you've put in and knows how long to cook it for, then switches to a 'keep warm' feature afterwards. Rice always turns out perfectly.
