Very reliable brand - my Cookworks still strong after 10 years

i have this its very noisy and takes ages to boil (annoyed)

Is it a 'noisy boiler'? My current one is a drama queen

It's 2kw not rapid boil (3kw) but still a good buy for the price. Heat added

I'm not surprised this kettle went hot, it's been on a couple of days now..................... good value.

correct you do need to add a lot less liquid than normal

From what I have seen of the vids on youtube people tend to put in too much fluid

Point is that the manual states it will display the time once you press the button it doesn't

Cookworks 23L Mini Oven - Argos - £44.99 - Fan assisted

Many of this type of oven are much lower wattage too

My mum bought this recently, it wasn't able to cook a chicken at the required temperature so it got sent back.

Mini oven in TJhughes 9l. £19:99 not fan

Was going to vote cold but its a fan assisted one :-)

That's only 9L and not fan assisted. I think if the op had put fan assisted in the title this might of got some heat.

Have the older 6.5ltr one and still going strong. Great for slowcooking all sorts & good family size. Bargain for that price and size!.

Slow cookers can be turned into sous vide for very little. wire up a temperature based switch (~£5 on ebay) to a plug adapter and the thick ceramic pot will keep a fairly consistent, precise temp.

You can cook all sorts in these. I'm not a big fan of liquorice, but I'll try owt once! Lol

Decent deal. We have a big 6ltr Russ Hobbs one. Lovely for stewing, or a nice juicy joint. HEAT!!! (y)

Looks lethal - think I'll avoid it.

The lidl one, it has been brilliant. Have minced 2 big joints of beef this afternoon.

What brand of mincer do you have.? Had a Lidl one before, that was pants. Ad also had a Argos stainless steel one warrell Thompson I think. That lasted just over a year.

Mmmmmm once made some honey glazed ham and beef at Xmas. Was great sliced and presented on a meat platter, didn't have any problems cutting either well done meat or rare beef.

Cookworks RC-8A 1.5L Rice Cooker - White £12.49 @ Argos

i've just been reading various publications on natural arsenic levels in rice, quite unnerving how this isn't more widely publicised, think i'll stick to the recommended methods of cooking :D

Mine gets used twice a week and still going strong 4 years in. Always hand wash the bowl and never use metal spoons etc. It does switch to warm, but that can still keep cooking as it's pretty hot, so keep an eye on it and it's fine, just switch off at the mains when you're nearly ready to serve up.

Very poor quality. Paint peels inside. No non stick.

I'm terrible for overcooking rice, does this automatically switch to warm setting once the rice has been cooked?

It has a 4 star rating so the majority of reviews are good..

don't argos have a standard 12 month warranty on everything you buy?

Does NOT appear to be but this is a tried and trusted kettle so there should be no problems. However you can always take it back to where you bought it and they will help you. ie:- send it back to Clockworks for them to fix. So keep your receipt to proove how long you've had it.

I bought one of these in 2008 and it lasted quite a few years so when it finally broke I bought the same again which looked the same in the argos picture but they had changed the design and boiling water spills everywhere when pouring. It didn't last long either so earlier this year when it stopped working I paid an extra £10 and bought the 3kw Breville Kettle at £19.99 which has been great so far and looks nicer on the counter. I couldn't recommend this product and on the argos website it has some pretty scathing reviews. Haven't voted.

Dont bother with it.. Probz takes forever to boil... Always get 3kw ones

I have one of these and have used it for years and although not lightening quick, it's perfectly acceptable when away on holiday. It is smaller than you might think though and the "mugs" it comes with are very small. it is also fairly quiet to use so I don't tend to wake my old woman up when I want and early coffee. It packs away quite tidily for travelling and I can stuff the flex inside the kettle.

I think he was trying to be humorous X)

No they don't.

these are ok but take about 20 minutes to boil

Cookworks 1.5L rice cooker £12.49 - Instore Argos
Found 4th Oct 2015Found 4th Oct 2015
Reduced by £5, decent capacity, good reviews and cheaper than any rice cookers I could find on Amazon

Where is that offer I couldn't see 3 for 2

Swings & roundabouts. Rice Cooker method ; use supplied measure cup to desired qty of rice (I normally rinse in a sieve under a cold tap) fill with cold water up to line on cooker switch on 10 mins or so, walla, done. Biggest benefit I find is whilst entertaining, 10 mins and rice is done, but still piping hot 20 mins later if you have, ahem, larger guests who want a second portion ;)

I've had one of these for a few years now and use it a lot. Cooking rice in a saucepan can be hit and miss, but this is foolproof. Measure in the rice, measure in the water (comes with cup), switch on and let it do the work. It weighs how much rice/water you've put in and knows how long to cook it for, then switches to a 'keep warm' feature afterwards. Rice always turns out perfectly.

these are fab!

Well I finally got it - after much faffing about thanks to a*sehole force, and the food tray is missing - Argos told me I'd have to return it for a refund but there's no exchange available. So looks like I'll have to get one from Argos and return that minus the tray ;-)

Could you fit an Apple in it - otherwise rubbish!

yes, i jusrt tried fitting one 12", 14" overlaps.

I got side tracked by a few reviews claiming it was reasonable. Returned it so no harm done.

Did not you read description before you ordered it ??? Interior capacity 9 litres. Size H20, W36.4, D30.8cm.

I just bought this and I'm taking it back tomorrow. I can't believe how small it is. The box is big but once you get the oven out you still think "okay maybe its big inside". unfortunately the inside is ridiculously small. it's like a kids toy oven. You cant put a small whole chicken in there that's how limited the space is. I don't think cupcakes can go in either.

Got mine today....looks perfect for the job....and it's a Cookworks. Heat added. Cheers OP.

oh dear, are you stalking me?????

yes you do

I have 'rice cooker' saved as an alert because I was waiting for this exact model to come up as a deal again. because it's one that I own already, and it's good, just a little scratched. but snowflake, I've seen you comment on another rice cooker deal before, what is your problem with people buying rice cookers? you seem to have it set as a keyword alert, just so that you can call people lazy and go on about how you use a pan. is this how you get your kicks in life?

Do you still have to wash the rice before you put it in the rice cooker?

ive been cooking rice for decades... its not about making life easier.... you can leave it in a pan and forget about it too!
