I have stayed here many times, personally I find it a bit meh but my wife and her family love it. Usually extremely overpriced but on this offer it's about right accomodation wise. Golf is a par 3 course, nothing special but some of the views are nice, but it doesn't cope with bad weather and gets water logged quite easily. It's about a 15 Min walk into town (uphill on way back) mostly through the hotel grounds which is nice.

Babbler

A It's November and December so doesn't matter... As weather will not likely be good enough :D

barnehurst

What is the golf? Pitch and putt in the back garden?

vickyboy123

These deals always seem to be targeted at couples. It would be good if they gave info regarding taking kids, even if its no kids allowed!

Good deal ! .. I do find Lands end a bit busy and over developed, but it is easy to get away from it all if you are prepared to do a bit of walking. Minack Theatre is not too far away and lots of nice villages, pubs and walks to do :)

Going Cornwall this weekend, prices are crazy right now

Area is pure natural beauty. Stayed there last year and going this year too. Lots of beauty spots to visits, not all within walking distance, but each destination requires some walking to get to the beauty spot that you'll be aiming for once you've driven close to them. Generally if you're in remote areas of bodmin, your mobile internet will likely be very poor and the wifi on the property also likely will be extremely poor. Thats the only downside really.

mumjit

Can anyone please recommend somewhere in the UK to holiday in the UK for a family of six in Mid August that is also pet friendly? Looking at spendding under £1000 if possible. Been going on 'Forest Holidays' for the past few years but fancy a change this year. Any recommendations would be really appreciated thanks :)

superstarbj1

I love the south coast we use the sun holidays a couple times a year around Dorset Cornwall as we get it at crazy low prices via the deals warmwell in Dorset got a big log cabin for 7 nights for under £200 and the place is really nice

Sp0oner

Thank you for looking it's much appreciated. I shall have a look on there and see what I can find. I was looking for August because of school holidays so not quite last minute but compared to booking months in advance it is (y)

For me personally I like nice clear water and surf, so Wales, Cornwall , Brittany or anywhere south of there. The English channel just doesn't do it for me.

The White Hart seems a nice hotel. The food I had was very good. St Austell town is a bit ropey but has some nice bits, a Whetherspoons for cheaper beer and Mousetouche Jacks for hipsters, but is really a good base for exploring surrounding areas. It has been hit by a few largish shop closures but is also being rebranded as Clay Town with it's China Clay heritage being expanded on. Meanwhile a nice little Tapas/Gin Palace in White River Place has just opened which is worth a visit.

Ferengi

Wow, can't believe the vitriol on here for St.Austell. Yes the shopping center is very poor but then show me any modern town shopping center that isn't full of Charity, vape, phone, estate agents and empty shops! It's not St.Austell itself this deal should appeal for, it's the wider area including picturesque Charlestown, Pentewan, Mevagissey and Eden on the doorstep along with the amazing beaches and coastline. Yes I live in St.Austell.

Suerte

Just about to post that. Seems every time I go back is slightly worse than before XD

I was born and bred in Newquay. Now moved away, thank goodness. The place is just not what it used to be. Sure, it's becoming a bit more family orientated as opposed to the 'ibiza, magaluf' style rep it's been getting, but it's busy, crowded, and really not that pleasant to walk through the town. It has its quirks still, such as the infamous beaches which I would argue are the best in the UK if not most of Europe, but don't expect a luxury getaway. I love the place, but it just was not what it used to be 10 years ago.

Just for information; reading the comments left on the Virgin website, it sounds like they use 'Marine Discovery' in Penzance (who are brilliant by the way; very knowledgeable and friendly - we went on a trip with them 3 & a half years ago). http://www.marinediscovery.co.uk/trips.html A 3 hour trip booked directly with Marine Discovery is £35 each; or a 4 hour is £45. If you check on their facebook - they usually upload daily 'spottings', so can try to plan when might be a lucky time to see dolphins etc. :)

landros1

I am only an average gardener but feel that prices are unjustifiable. As a registered charity I cannot see how they could fail to make a substantial profit with the admission and food prices that they charge. It turned us off visiting Hegelian.

simonspeakeasy

"total rip off" is a bit strong. I agree that it's not cheap, but it's not like they make a profit. And most plant-lovers love the place. I really should make an effort to go more often. I work from home <20 miles from the Eden Project, and I keep meaning to spend the occasional day working from the tropical dome.

landros1

Englishman we went yesterday @ a cost of £25 each and we all agreed that it was only worth £5 and a total rip off for all food & drinks as well.
